Are the bitfury chips ready? i mean packaged and all?
LOL:)

No offend, but:
1 - How we can be sure that there are more than a few hundred partially efficient chips (2,3GH/s instead 5Gh/s) cut out of from center test wafer?
2 - Do we have any guarantee that TSMC this year let Bitfurry on their already heavily loaded production lines?
3 - In my opinion all money from preorder go to corrections that must be made to the chip. Than start small quantity test wafers. Unless Bitfury wants to introduce the production of something that had passed with the assumptions for more than 50%.
And if it is so weak performance whether for a few months, these chips will still work? Were the tests performed life-time chip in extremely adverse conditions to determine how quickly degrades structure?
Its very impressive start very risk development so high (55nm) and get working chip. And I am not speaking here against this project, but before invest will see what I'm dealing with.

1 - We've tested many chips so far (they all come mixed together, no sorting) and have found the yield to be outstanding. We have enough chips in hand to satisfy all orders.
2 - We don't work with TSMC. UMC is our foundry. We already have orders in place for next batch of chips and have no reason to believe that it would be delayed.
3 - We didn't go the MPW route. We went with full mask-set and produced a chip that works just as we expected this to. Hence we had a large engineering run, that was successful and can also be (and is in the process of being) deployed.

Thank you for your professional response.
Did you plan correction on metal layer for improve performance ?
Why we can't buy July chip delivery on EU distribution ? On US page  You can still order for 10 units for July.

Congratulations on the ASIC guys - I'm glad it worked right first time - the thought of the NRE costs makes me shudder!

It's also very nice to see a project on this continent - I just hope the Euro is still around in October!

Sorry Smiley lol Smiley I mean chips that will be soldered onto the August boards Wink
Having been bitten by another ASIC vendor, I wanted to exercise caution.

BTW is  this feature still present in the chip?
Code:
1) the chips have a build in power management / leveling system that we want to use (to save on power and additional pcb components: to power the boards and a string/series of chips with let's say 7.2V directly)  ... this is a crazy idea and we have to check if this works (we must avoid resonance buildup and power voltage osculations) before ordering many boards [[ comments here are very welcome !!! :-) ]]

Yes, this feature is built-in on chip. We are currently testing this feature.

Can you give us some info how is this working, or at least how it should? Do you have some documentation from bitfury that you can share with us?
I'm very curious about this feature but don't see how this can have effect on reducing BOM list. DC/DC is still neede but with less amperage that's obvious, but you need level translators between chips and propably another DC/DC converters to IOVDD. Or I'm missing something?

EDIT:
I think that I've resolved a puzzle Wink Key to this is IOREF pin.

I'm sure that a lot people will want to see more data on them working and we will do our small part here to move that forward. However it is worth saying that the initial results by people, that have prototypes, have shown a power efficiency miles better than BFL. So even if these chips are only run at 1-2 GH/s per chip it gives a good power figure and a high packing potential. If 5 GH/s is achieved that is a big bonus.

Okay if it works, even lower BOM Smiley Maybe it can be implemented on rev 2 H-boards for October delivery.

Hooray for non-equilibrium thermodynamics!
i heard punin got a very big email queue of support questions , several 100 emails.

So i would suggest to give him some time to catch up.

regards

Yes, this sounds right. We sent a question in a while ago and it took a little while to get a reply, but punin did get back to us with full answers to our questions. I'm sure he'll get back to you when he can.

hmmm ...

I'm experiencing long delays between, my payment over BitPay and the order status update from pending to processing (waiting over 10h) (2 tickets no answer)

One question that is still unanswered ... what about the VAT expenses that are falsely cleared on orders to switzerland or other non-EU countrys?

...

Hey guys, just made a first custom housing design, take a look here:

Foofighter looks nice Smiley some people have suggested a few options on your OP. But that is a great start.

Hey guys,  more feedback would be nice - will send the first inquiries to manufacturers on Thursday.

hope I could include all your wishes in the first run, of course changes are possible at every time.

regards
