This is why the upgrade packages are not yet available.
When/If S3 sales slow down, Then you may see the upgrades.
They will fill the gap for a few weeks until Bitmain's next market coup.

if its available in the end of july...
then bitmain will be making a big cash out of it
but, we (the s3 buyer) will be the one who'll making sour faces
while the upgrade price will likely under 0.4BTC  Cheesy

I sold my 3 s-1's for .2btc each the buyer paid for shipping.   an s-1 to s-3 upgrade will be .5 to .6 btc not .4 .  but i am guessing.

back to shipping of batch 1.   has anyone had a shipping update. it is 11:30pm in china the 10th of July.

I have to think shipping has started. I placed my batch 1 order in the first hour. so Maybe my gear is on its way.  one can dream.

If they have given themselves until 20th july, then unfortunately I am resigned to the fact that date is most likely.  If its earlier then it`ll be a nice surprise

they have no need to sell an s-4.

3 s-3's do the job.

they would be better off selling s-2 up grade kits then selling s-4's

Now I am making a lot of assumptions.  most of them being they no longer have a lot of cases +backplanes + contollers + psu's left over from the s-2's.

if they do have a lot of them they still may prefer selling upgrade kits.  to s-2 owners.  before they sell an s-4.

my big interest is s-3 undervolt underclock options.

can I get an s-3 to run at 400gh and 240 watts? with fans set at 1500 rpm   = real value for me.
1.6TH/s at 960W?  Yes please.  Running 4 S3s on a single EVGA 1300... now that would be nice.

yeah if this is possible .  I would do 2 sets…. I have the psu's .

running 3.2th at 1920 watts  should last into march of 2015 and still pay for the power cost.

Hmm, I've still got 4 S3's in my shopping cart on the bitmain website... think the order would still go through?
No, it will show as sold out when you try to check out, but as soon as they open sales again you will be ready. Same thing here.
I bet right now they are working full crews to assemble the S3's for shipment. Hopefully the sales will open when they catch up. They must be shipping thousands of these next week.

I agree I think the next thing after the S3 is going to be the Upgrade boards for S2 units to 2TH+ seems the new chips can over clock well so I see the 2.2-2.5TH option over clocked with 1300 watt PSU I personally like the design of the S2 leaves things open for all future upgrade to just be him having to ship us replacement boards packed in anti static bags and slim boxes all stacked together will make his shipping much easier but yes early batch 1-2 S2 customers experienced many issues with dmage during shipping by the time i got mine i think batch the cards were held in more securely with a metal plate so i think the logic of the upgrade to S2 being easy quick and low cost to ship reliably

Bitmain has been so reflective of "upgrades" and "upgrade kits" in previous statements it's hard for me to believe this is the next step. On a business level, kits just do not make sense on paper (to me). I could be wrong, of course, but I can't see them putting $ into Upgrade Kits when the S3 sales have been going so well. Just my 2c of course.

This is why the upgrade packages are not yet available.

gotta let a coin be a coin
I can't wait to get the shipped mail from Bitmain. I so enjoy getting the new miners and Dorking out digging into them to see what they can do. I am excited to see how far we can OC these.

It doesn´t really make sense to develop the S4 boards for another backplane than the S2 backs.

Obviously, this point could be wrong if some additional advantages could be achieved by a better backplane.

The S4 would most likely be in the range of 2-2.5TH if the same 1kW power supply is used.

I think it's pretty obvious there were some major problems with the S2 backplane/board design when it comes to shipping.

The S1/S3 have an extremely durable design from a shipping standpoint.

I don't know what form factor the S4 will come in, but I hope that it is nice and solid like the S1/S3....

There does not seem to be any shipping problem anymore since June 26.
Everything comes solid, there is a metal plate on top and two metallic planks that fix the hashing boards in position. I had nothing dislodged or unplugged.
Bitmain promised an inexpensive upgrade for S2 to the range of 1.8-2 Th. Could be a good deal if it costs ~$500 or less, however, I don't know what the cost of the board is. They have to break even or make a slight profit on such upgarde to make it feasible, but it cannot be too much as people will not order.

Yes but upgrade of S2 and new machine are two diff things .. I want buy new machine and not to DIY .. thats why I hope in a brand new S4

I'm not sure they would, in fact, be different.  The S2 upgrade cards would likely just be the same card they would ship in the S4.  You've already designed a chassis in the S2 that makes upgrading easy, so why redesign that wheel?
