All antivirus softwares detect threads using match case in their databases.
Antivirus softwares scan for particular files such as .bat, .exe etc.
During scan or real time protection if antivirus has found any file that is existing in their Included Database, antivirus quarantines this file as per user settings or their policies.
Some antivirus quarantine file but allow user to exclude this file.
Some antivirus remove such quarantined files with recovery option.
Some antivirus softwares remove quarantined files permanently without recovery option.
Everyday new viruses, adwares, malwares, trozans are created and spread, to protect PC from these newly created viruses antivirus uses excluded database which contains list of "Heuristic Detection" excluded files.
So any .bat , .exe or particular file is found on PC by antivirus which s not listed in their excluded database files list will be considered as possibly infected file by antivirus software and these type of files are also quarantined and removed as per user settings or their policies as mentioned above. This is called "Heuristic Detection".
If your antivirus quarantines a file without option of adding it to excluded quarantine item list. And you are 100% sure of this file is clean or you have created this file yourself and you want to run this file on your PC you have Option 1. disable real time protection and run (this is not recommend, because your PC will be run at risk of other virus infected files ), Option 2. contact your antivirus support and send them details of this quarantined item which is clean but still quarantined by antivirus "heuristic detection". And you want to run it without quarantine it by antivirus. Antivirus support team will send this file to their Lab for examine file by their technicians and if found clean they will add this file in their excluded database list. This process takes few days or a week or more. Once added to their excluded database list you can update your antivirus software and run this file without any issue.
If antivirus has quarantines an item which is 100% clean but quarantined because of not listed in their excluded files database is called "Heuristic Detection False Positive".
