The pump and dump of 2014 brought with it plenty of talent, much of which have moved onto other projects. The flatness in the price doesn't draw an awful lot more of the rather thin-on-the-ground hardcore dev talent to the table unfortunately but we do have a few resident experts like janko33 and DZimbeck keeping things ticking along.
Unlike other commercially oriented coin launches which have happened since, BLK remains a pretty open coin for use cases so it's anyones to tinker with. It's only abandonware when the blockchain stops.

any news about the forthcoming staking mobile wallet ??
The only thing I have heard recently is that it (well, they) will be a side effect of doing something else. Cryptic I know, but I'm sure progress will be announced when the dev is ready.
If the development were so certain in these areas,
all easy parts are done now the hard ones are left.. where you have to do the good old debug, debug, debug, aha and fix
(I have successfully tested: creating a wallet, receiving of BLK, but last step sending is having a hiccup: Error: Wrong signatures.. have to debug why..)

BLK has actually been a fairly stable coin since around november of 2015 trading around @5k-8k satoshi. As far as the volume in the last week, that little bubble of a value increase was quickly corrected by weak hands selling short.

To me it seems like some people got stuck with it big time (like me hahaha) and are desperately looking for an exit.
looking at other interesting coins paying 3-5 times a month, Parking money in black seems boring.
On the other hand I would love to see a price increase here.
