Catcoin Valuation Exceeds DOGE

Catcoin Team 3 VHQ: Today, The Catcoin Project Team 3 (unofficial) announces the implied value of one Catcoin has exceeded the current trading value of one Dogecoin. As of writing, Dogecoin is trading at 19.06 US Cents. The implied value of Catcoin based on cost of mining at 360 Gigahashes per second observed, implies 36.0 cents per Catcoin. Catcoin lovers are celebrating this milestone. To be clear, this is value per coin and not market capitalization. Since Dogecoin has over 140 billion coins circulating, and Catcoin is limited to 21 million to ever exist, Catcoin still has a long ways to go to catch up with Dogecoin on that metric.

About Catcoin: Catcoin (CAT) with its genesis block on December 23, 2013, is the first cat-themed meme coin released in response to the original release of Dogecoin. Its maximum coin supply is capped at 21 million, has a target block time of 10 minutes, and experiences block reward halving every 210,000 blocks just like with Bitcoin (BTC).  It is historcially the first PoW coin to implement PID in civilian application.

I agree 100% on this portion.

To clarify in case the clarification that is publicly posted is not enough, there is no Team 3 within the official development team. It is an independent group. On the other hand, SlimePuppy does not have the jurisdiction over an independent group to declare that it does not exist, any more than Chairman Mao has the jurisdiction to declare that the value of Pi is 3.

Hash Incentive Offer Now Closed

Catcoin Team 3 VHQ: Today, The Catcoin Project Team 3 (unofficial) provides an update on the hash incentive offer. Due to everwhelming demand and multiple commitments in place, the objective of obtaining committed hash power over a 1500-hour duration has been amply achieved. Therefore, effective immediately, the offer is no longer open.

If the network hash should exceed 1,000 Gigahashes Per Second for a 24-hour period in the near future, a similar offer will be opened but at a higher price point. Also, another offer may be opened near the end of 1500 hour mark, to incentivize keeping the hash going, but a decision on this has not been made. A similar offer may open for other reasons not enumerated.

Longer-Term Mining Incentive Announced

Catcoin Team 3 VHQ: Today, The Catcoin Project Team 3 (unofficial) in response to the run-up in hashing seen in recent days (see graph below) and to mitigate risk of crash in hash power from short-term miners, announces an incentive program to procure long-term mining contracts.



Limited Offer Subject to Amendment

Team 3 announces tentative plan to mitigate potential for sudden crash in hash power, by offering incentives for long-term hash commitments. In the midst of the current mania for Catcoins, we are seeing a major surge in hashing activity, and it is unknown how much of this is short-term hashing contracts, versus longer-term. If a major surge in hash is only temporary, it risks long periods of no blocks being generated if the hashing activity drops suddenly.

Team 3 suggests longer-term solutions will require something at the algorithmic level but within the established technical parameters of the coin. But implementing any such possible does not seem feasible in the relevant timeframe.

Team 3 invites holders of Catcoin with wherewithal to do it, to volunteer to make coins available on similar terms on a private OTC basis, to amplify the incentives (miners may "double-dip" or "triple dip" etc. if multiple holders of Catcoin make this offer.)

Proof of 500 hours of hashing commitment - you may purchase up to 25% of the cost of rental in equivalent Catcoin at 14 cents each, payable in equivalent litecoin.

Proof of 1,000 hours of hashing commitment - you may purchase up to 50% of the cost of rental in equivalent Catcoin at 12 cents each, payable in equivalent litecoin.

Proof of 1,500 hours of hashing commitment - you may purchase up to 100% of the cost of rental in equivalent Catcoin at 10 cents each, payable in equivalent litecoin.

This is subject to limited availaility of Catcoins and arrangements must be made in advance to verify availablility of coins, and subject to amendment. We will also honor mining contracts that were made prior to this announcement, that happens to fit the above parameters. To be clear, limited availaility of Catcoins for this offer will go based on a first-come first served basis, so if you have proof of long-term hashing that fits the above parameters that is already in place, make your claim soon to make sure the offer has not expired. Any new hashing contract about to be engaged must be cleared with Team 3 first before it will be committed to be honored, when the mining rental is purchased. If there is any disagreement about ambiguity about this offer, the interpretation shall be based on the opinion of Team 3 which shall be final.

The dev team is happy to work with community members that desire to improve the project.  As we have since 2014, we will resist efforts to damage the project. We see this as a core responsibility of a professional team.  As the old CATs are aware, a lot of our history has history. New folks are welcome to read this thread and the two prior. The entire history of work for and against the project is well documented and requires no further bandwidth.

   Some notes and updates...
- The catcoinwallets site finally has SSL. The wallets site will also have an SSL cert once it moves to its own domain.

- Some time in the next month the wallets site, seed node, and explorer will be moving to a new, faster, server. We'll announce that move and the temporary outage when that happens

- There have been some changes in the dev team that are not yet reflected in this thread's OP.  Maverick moved on many years ago and is no longer part of the dev team. He remains a mod on the Discord channels.  Blaksmith has been forced by day job pressure to step away from day to day dev work.

- Expect a Mac wallet in the next one to two months

- We're in the very early stage of vetting both team members and a strategy to get onto a couple of decent exchanges. The exchange environment has changed a great deal since Cryptsy folded. More on this when available.

- There is no "team 3". Various people have approached the team and have failed vetting. Use your standard crypto "spidy senses" (and escrow) if approached for OTC trades or other activities that might not be in the best interest of your holdings or the community.

No, it is not dead.  Life issues happened and seed nodes are still working, and geekhash.org is still working, and seems to be the only pool.  I would LOVE to see more pools open!

The explorer is being worked on again, as different versions of software don't like older ones, so that will be online soon.
