I am on catpool.pw

Works well, but I don't get any CAT confirmed yet. Is that normal?

COINIUM IS APPROACHING 51%> PLEASE SPREAD OUT TO THE OTHER POOLS OR USE P2POOL TO PREVENT ANOTHER 51%.

Why is this so hard to understand. Use the other pools, or we fork.

Added a chart to compare this: http://catcoins.biz/charts

It may seem low right now but if you look around this is the only coin that's not crashing to death.
It's the rarity and the under 1% per day mining dump with new minted coins.

Even with a fork it held at 4500-5500 ... I'm impressed.

Other coins have died in the last few days. Like 85% drop like kitteh. Fedora... Moon... even DOGE is WAY down.

Something to watch.

Right, at this time coinium holds 43% of hashrate. Time to redistribute!
Or  just give up. 300 mh? Lots of people could be at 51% of that.

Yah, that takes about 150-200 Hawaii GPUs. It's not very likely but it's possible that somebody who owns that much hashing resources and hates cats has nothing better to do but kill CAT coin. Grin

It's not that bad. In this very moment, it's exactly half as profitable as DOGE.

I think what some people may be having a hard time understanding is that despite the recent change in the number of blocks between difficulty adjustments, Catcoin otherwise remains a Bitcoin clone in terms of all other parameters - it is intended to be scarce - it is an anomaly that they can be purchased for so cheap on the exchanges right now - but since not many coins are being generated (should be approx. 7200 a day) - it is a matter of time before someone puts in a big purchase - which will elevate prices - and it will be hard for the prices to come down. In this environment, a lot of miners are choosing to mine catcoins (and probably buying up cheap coins at the same time), knowing that even if the catcoins don't seem like the most "profitable" at the moment, "profitability" presupposes you are dumping the coin for something else - if you hold it, anticipating it to go up a lot - and it goes up, the mining is retroactively plenty profitable.

Now, you could also engage in an alternative strategy of mining a "profitable" coin, dumping it for BTC, then buying Catcoins, and you may end up with more Catcoins than if you mined it directly - but the risk is that before the "profitable" coin could be converted to BTC and BTC converted to Catcoins, Catcoins may have gone way up in value, then it's too late to end up with more Catcoins using this strategy versus mining it directly in the first place.

Been mining CATS since the fork on my XFX 7950 (~500Kh/s). Got only 10 CATs so far... I expected more Sad

So basically ~$5/day at the current shitty price for each 500kh/s

That actually not too bad. An r9 would make $250-$300 a month in coins and that's only if it stays this ridiculously low priced.

Even a mild increase in price and you would pay that r9 off in no time.

nah, that's the rate got ~110+ for 6000 ks/s so it's on par

WTF I only got <2 on my 7970 with teamcatcoin as of about 30 mins ago and gave up, went back to eac.

Anyone have the new Catcoin-QT client for Windows? I only have the old one. Desperately need the new one.

Is it not in the first post? Has it not been compiled yet?
I don't see it. I only see the client which requires installation and setup. I never install them as I only use the standalone ones.
il'll just leave that here

This has been a crazy ride...
I remember being happy I wasn't affected by the fork at launch, but it caught up with me on poolerino. Switched to coinium and then freaking out thinking it was going to fork again. 2 lives down. I feel safe going to sleep with my rigs hashing away at CAT...for now.

One thing I wasn't too happy about tonight was getting an email from http://www.catcoinforum.com/ to my registered email account urging me to switch to poolerino. I'm not sure what affiliation the forum owner has with that pool, but considering they were on the wrong fork, it probably didn't help matters.

Anyway. Bed time. Ciao.
Today's fail might have happened because Catcoinforum sent that email -- it definitely played its role in causing Poolerino to have >=51% network hash. Why is the forum choosing only one pool anyway? Did they pay him?

I don't know, but I'm not happy with the way the owner seems to "speak" for the community on more than one occasion in this thread. It's fantastic he's got a forum for Catcoin, and much respect to him for maintaining it and running it, but this is more or less an ad-hoc democracy. There's no hierarchy.

He announced in this thread when we were debating the fork a thread on his forum on whether or not the coin should fork. As far as I'm concerned this thread is the official thread, and any decisions about Catcoin's development should be made here. It's bad enough as it is in here sometimes when there's a panic on. We need coordination. Not discord. If he can help coordinate efforts, that would be great, but there can't be several people making rogue decisions that could cause even more confusion. It gets messy and it harms Catcoin.

Anyway, I really must go now. See ya.  Smiley
He also asks for donations in almost every post. I'm getting more and more uncertain whether he should have the responsibility for managing (what should be) a great Catcoin community.

Go sleep, good night! Smiley

I asked him about the poolerino plug and he said he is advertising them because they were the first to lower the confirmations.

if he really minded the community a bit and checked all the available pools, he would have seen that we were running cat.coinium.org with 30 confirmations during dark-times Smiley Advertising a single pool through emails & forum and making it sticky as the official pool was really a bad idea for a coin that was already going to re-fork as a fix. A bad idea in every terms...
