I've lost 6 btc, and could have made at least 20+ btc off cloak, so I'm just going to sink with the ship at this point...... never know what the future may hold.  This coin has has stronger confidence and attention than any other alt coin i've seen and it's still pretty new... It will take some time but I'm still optimistic for its future.

Update:
"I'm trying my best but it's proving more difficult than I originally imagined".

Not what everyone wants to hear but that is the situation.

Uh oh, the cargo cult isn't going to like this.   Tongue

Real anon is a very hard problem with only one publicly known proven solution: ring signatures.

Don't try to reinvent the wheel.  Start with a XMR/BBR/XDN/BCN CryptoNote codebase and modify it to work with Proof of Stake.

Then the anon comes for free.

DarkNote just implemented anon msg, which may be ideal for OneMarket type stuff.

+1

I'm a fan of cryptonote coins too. I'm a bigger fan of zero knowledge technology, stuff blows my mind. To my knowledge the only coins working on zk: Anoncoin, ShadowCash and ZeroCash. All three with different approaches and all three have strong dev teams behind them. zk-snarks is one of the biggest advancements in cryptography at the moment, especially in relation to anonymity. Adoption of zk-snarks will finally put the anon debate to rest once and for all. It's even acknowledged as superior by Maurice P, one of the founders of cryptonote.

"[Maurice P]Zerocoin, Zerocash. This is the most advanced technology, I must admit. Yes, the quote above [from the white paper] is from the analysis of the previous version of the protocol. To my knowledge, its not 288, but 384 bytes, but anyway this is good news [the latest trimming of sizes]. They used a brand new technique [sic] called SNARK, which has certain downsides: for example, large initial database of public parameters required to create a signature (more than 1 GB) and significant time required to create a transaction (more than a minute). Finally, they're using a young crypto, which I've mentioned to be an arguable idea: https://forum.cryptonote.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=19#p55"

-Maurice P.

"Now, notice that since we are still pushing information through a function (our
random oracle function), and not using a zero-knowledge system, our system is still
not fully zero-knowledge anonymous."

http://monero.cc/downloads/whitepaper_review.pdf

Shadow already has a working Simplified Payment Verification (SPV) system in place with the latest ShadowLite release, that addresses some of the concerns about the signature. The approach is quite different to Zerocoin/ZeroCash. All in all the coming weeks will be very interesting for the anon space with Anoncoin and Shadow. IMO, both coins are the best investment right now in the anon space - Anoncoin (PoW) and Shadow (PoS). Investing in anything else in the anon space right now is pointless, as both coins will wrapping up the anon debate in their respective markets.

Just a suggestion here...community takes over and hires Dan Metcalf to review/work briefly on code. I know mentioning xc is taboo here but it looks like the community may get burned, I hope everything works out for cloak holders.

I agree.TheDagger should give more details about the situation, such as the core team members and viable plans.

Cloakcoin gonna be abandoning ? should I dump my 10k cloaks?
Defiantly sell, if you still have faith in the coin, sell asap, and wait a week, you will be able to buy in at half the price.

My post got deleted by a mod ahahah someone is actually moderating this topic  Cool

Well, good to see that there's still some effort put in the project. Tongue Maybe if the devs did the same it's be more effective.

ARK Team likes to ban and delete posts in reddit.
Update:

Guys I'm sorry for the time away, but you want communication and here it is.

I've been waiting and waiting for an update from the main dev to get PoSA 3 out the door and for a while there has been little to no advancements that I've seen.

That is the only reason I have not been here.

The last correspondence from my CLOAK dev was along the lines of...

"I'm trying my best but it's proving more difficult than I originally imagined".

Not what everyone wants to hear but that is the situation.

Thanks for the update.   Keep trying hard!  Have you considered bringing in help from the community or getting additional devs input to get things working?  There is always the chance that this might be too difficult a task for the current main Dev.  When progress comes to a screeching halt like it has here then it might be best for the project to move forward with fresh talent.

I agree, find another Dev.

There is too much riding on this to have the main developer for PoSA3 at a stand still.

Hell, I have been there myself in programming, sifting through the failed code for days on end, and trust me, help is welcome.

Dagger you are the project manager.... lets get this project back on track.

And BTW kids, shit like this happens in programming...this is not copy/paste.

I see only a few ways out of this, none that I think alty will agree to even though it would be the right thing to do:

1.  Open source and let community take over the project
2.  Hire better devs and do a better job managing them
3.  Change goals to be more realistic and work on those instead of trustless anon

Maybe I'm just deluded but it seems questionable to me the level of effort of people who keep coming back and fudding this coin nonstop etc. tells me they hit on something.

I dunno, seems kind of rash to me.  I read his post as that they are still working on it but just delayed more than maybe would be desired.  At least they haven't given up and walked away, although more frequent posts even just once a week would probably put minds at ease like what Sunny King does.

I've been pretty bearish on this ever since the bob mega-dump, and I'm still pretty surprised at the amount of support/resilience the price has shown...I fully expected that by now this would be drifting a lot closer to 1k satoshi just going off of charts and the cycle of every other big coin.  I do still believe that this is one of those coins that could see a huge rally towards the holidays like we saw last year with certain coins, but it is dependent on a) devs delivering sooner rather than later before all faith is totally lost, b) open sourcing so the community has proof-of-progress although part a will provide that too and c) someone or group with sufficient btc comes along to slow pump it.

Maybe I'm just deluded but it seems questionable to me the level of effort of people who keep coming back and fudding this coin nonstop etc. tells me they hit on something.  I will wait a little bit longer for a good re-entry point and then scoop a bag to sit on for a few months.  Doesn't seem like 1k is going to happen but maybe near 10k.

So what will happen to cloak?!
If i should dump?, such a fucking situation

Latest update: Developer vanished. Project halted. Looks like they weren't able to finish the project because of the difficulty. Sell while you still can. This coin is finished apparently..
