Well, if I'm correct in my guess, the hard part is just hacking up the PoS protocol to support it. Which is likely why they're taking their time to get it right. The best part of this kind of scheme is so long as the implementation is good and there is no successful 51% attack it should "just work".. I **think**. But, I'm far from an expert and likely not considering everything.
