To anyone worried that staking isn't working on 1.9.6, here's my wallet: http://i61.tinypic.com/28c389h.png

As you can see, a few of the transactions are grayed-out (everything from 7/12). This seems to be the problem a bunch of people have been facing. This happens when you are able to mine coins but aren't connected long enough afterward to complete the 4 confirmations that are required.

Additonally: Help with Syncing
If you've read any of my past posts, I had problems syncing my wallet for a while. I was able to fix this by going to these two files (blk0001.dat, blkindex.dat), deleting them, and then restarting my wallet. (Note: I also had to execute the 'repairwallet' command in the console to get my balance to update)

http://i60.tinypic.com/vsmflx.png

I just wanted to clear up any of my contributions to FUD and help anyone facing the same problems I did.

Hey, thanks for posting with the solutions.  I deleted the two (blk0001.dat, blkindex.dat) files and then restarted the wallet.  It did attempt to re-synch and seems like it did but then wallet shows 'out of synch' and balance on wallet is zero...

I tried the repairwallet command within console too and got this "wallet check passed" : true

still looks like it is trying to catch up and not sure how daggers post about POS affects anything with this....

thanks again

EDIT:  Ok.  So after some time wallet started synching better it seems and picked up some transactions, after this I ran 'repairwallet' and got several of the addresses back so everything is synched up now and seems to be good.  Thank you

I just want to clear up some confusion about the 'guidelines'.  In reality there is no way for a decentralized e-commerce system to 100% enforce any guidelines.

I merely want to give posters some guidelines about what will 'most likely be accepted'.  I have no idea what the free market will decide is okay or not until we release this.

I do believe that people are more good than bad.

This is why I invented OneJury.  By using this system, a reviewer is incentivized to take the correct action that he thinks his fellow reviewers will take.  The image from the white paper best explains how this works.

https://i.imgur.com/vmuslZW.png

For example, lets say someone does make an assassination posting.  This listing will appear in the review area for random OneMarket users.  They can choose to take the risk of reviewing it before doing so by reading information on the post.  If they are confident that others will vote in the way they do then they can put a risk deposit down.  If their vote matches the majority vote of the others then they get their reward in the form of the transaction fee (that is split 11 ways to the 11 reviewers) paid by the listee.  If they fail to match the majority vote, then the money goes to the reviewers who did review in the the majority favor and they will think twice before taking a gamble on risky listings in the future.

Is is possible however, that 11 jurors could in theory let a posting go through like this but its highly unlikely as they will not financially benefit from doing so.

Chances are they will see assassination and all vote it down OR they just won't even attempt voting on it at all for fear of losing their risk deposit, thus the listing will never get posted.

Just wanted to make that more clear.

I see your point, however isn't that like arresting someone that created some video editing software because someone else used it to edit child porn?  The software itself isn't doing anything illegal, the people using it would be. The Devs are not selling anything illegal, nor are they profiting from it if the listing fees go to the miners, nor are they hosting it like a website or something.

OneMarket could have the option of "blocking" certain listings from being viewed by the user.  If I don't want to see illegal drugs on OneMarket, I can simply block that category or key word and my OneMarket experience will be like those listings never existed

Ah, now we get into the legal theories of criminal liability.  First, look at what is happening to Ross William Ulbricht, operator of Silk Road.

You are of course right in your video editing software example, because no thought went into it as to how to customize it toward editing videos illegal in nature, and there is probably nothing that can be customized in this fashion.

But if you create software that is specifically customized to facilitate illegal activity, this is a totally different situation.  Now, anonymity on its own isn't so bad, but it is going to be a little bit of a picket fence type situation.  One picket does not make it a fence, but keep adding pickets, and soon it becomes a picket fence.

Edit:  one afterthought - silk road was a centralized system, and this will be decentralized, but still danger here

Eaten... look at Craigslist. At one point was easily the biggest single point of online prostitution ads. Is the creator/operator in jail? No. Is Craigslist still operating? Yes. Stolen goods get sold on craigslist all the time.. does that mean that craigslist needs to be shut down? Because someone could also make the argument that Craigslist is one of the largest hubs for the sale of stolen goods.

Does a swap meet organizer become a criminal because someone there is selling a stolen camera? Not to my knowledge.

OneMarket creators aren't specifically customizing anything to facilitate illegal activity as far as I can see. They're creating a marketplace that is regulated by its users and AFAIK there isn't a law that makes that illegal. If someone sells something illegal on the market place they technically would be breaking the law and be liable; However, the use of anonymous transactions, stealth addresses and the decentralized nature of the ecosystem makes it near bulletproof. What we are looking at is a paradigm shift in how the world will look at commerce for the next 100 years. I could see OneMarket changing the way governments look at regulation and taxation. If they can't stop something from happening they could move towards decriminalization and then to legalization. Portugal is a perfect example - they decriminalized all drugs and their drug use and addiction rates have dropped.

I invested in Cloak because of the whitepaper on Onemarket. The whitepapers on anonymous transactions were good too but the OneMarket paper really sold me on the developers and their vision for an autonomous market layered on top of a coin network that also supported anonymous transactions.

Sorry for the rambling, I know these aren't set in stone rules that ban certian listings or anything. I just have a strong libertarian viewpoint and love the idea of the Onejury system where the users of cloak decide what's listed and don't see the need to worry about what's legal where, what regulations and sales tax and jurisdiction and..you get the idea, I just like freedom for the people to decide.

+1

Indeed, we don't need a new ebay. We need a "light" version of the Silk Road, where people deal between people freely and anonymously, without the fear of the government, customs etc. coming after you or your transactions. This is how we attract real money, and real usage. If it is decentralized, nobody can blame the cloak team for inventing a platform, where people make their own decisions.

Freedom all the way. Onejury can then decide where the line goes... probably no-one wants to have child porn, firearms or hard drugs sold out there. However, I can see a massive support for selling marijuana.

One thing bothers me though, and sorry for patronising all the teens reading this, but I just wonder if there is any way to prevent underage people from buying narcotics or alcohol through the cloak market? I don't want to read headlines like "bitcoin booze blinds 3 minors"...

Yes, they can blame the cloak team. Take a look at thepiratebay and what the creators are going through. Watch their documentaries. They don't host any illegal content, but they're both [apparently] in jail for it.

And to the underage thing; nope. I'm a 7320 year old wizard with 4 arms. How can you prove I'm not? That's what anonymity is.

If you're going to make such a market [even if your intentions of what's being sold are different] where illegal drugs are going to be traded in mass amounts (like silk road), prostitution is going to happen, illegal guns are going to be sold/traded, assassination markets opened. You better be damn sure you know the consequences of how government and law enforcement agencies have treated people in the past who technically weren't doing anything 'illegal', but were hosting the market on which others could do very illegal things.
English is not my native language,so i will post a sample of things what cloack team may implement in Onemarket:http://help.mysonicwall.com/sw/eng/216/ui2/29/config/sw-block.html

ROADMAP ?

I am trying to evaluate my CLOAK investment. Essential to know this week's, and this month's, and this summer's plans.
As it is difficult to nail down specific dates, it could also be like "probably end of July", or "late next week"; or give dates, with a lot of buffer time.

Is there a roadmap, a list of dates?
Planned announcements, whitepapers, next versions, coin features, merchant adoption, conference talks, press conferences, google hangouts, games, competitions, etc. pp. ?

Thank you very much!

To be honest I'm a little disappointed to hear about "regulations" in OneMarket.  I thought the idea was a decentralized "anything goes" type market.  You can't control what people do with it.  The beauty is unlike a hidden Tor site, you cannot shut it down.  Even hidden Tor services have a single point of seizure (server), but OneMarket would not live in any one place, like the blockchain.  You would not be able to arrest the cloak team because they aren't actually hosting anything, no one is. This = freedom from censorship and rules.

If you ban illegal drugs, I'm sorry but you are missing out on millions of dollars of Cloak that could be transacted per year.  Why have an elaborate anonymous marketplace if I'm buying PS4?  I think the key thing here is freedom, freedom to buy and sell what we please in a place that cannot be controlled by an entity.  People can already buy/sell illegal things anonymously without OneMarket

It's a tough spot to be in though, because I do disagree with illegal drugs, child porn, guns, etc.  But I will be showing my disagreement by not buying and supporting sellers thay sell these things with OneMarket.

It's easy for you to say this, as you are not going to be the one going to prison for making this.  And I am getting the general vibe that many people here want OneMarket to be the new Silk Road.  This is really dangerous for the developers, guys.

I knew this was gona happen. I called it 10+ pages back.

If dev delays PoSA one more time (after the whole "within 12 hours" announcement) the value was going to drop significantly. Low and behold, we're currently hovering @ 75-77k sat. Im not going to bother mentioning why people are panic selling..i think its quite obvious at this point.

I will say though that this could've easily been prevented with a demonstration video from the devs like what they usually do.

I will take into account that it is "Bloody Monday" and disregard the current price...but if we dont hear anything by tomorrow.....

edit: Ninja'd by Dagger....nice to have gotten an update. Not what I was hoping for, but at this point, better than nothing....

For the purposes of transaprency this is EXACTLY where we are at right now.

PoSA:

Latest dev build 1.9.7.1 for some reason keeps crashing seednode (wallet) the moment we try to download blockchain from it. PoSA dev will get this problem resolved and we can get to the next stage.

OneMarket:

Coding has begun on interface and we'll soon be making videos with x11joe to track developments.
