and i see other people staking now .. good stuff
time to approach cryptsy and bter. if anyone feels like helping bring attention to them.

they need to be aware that there was a staking problem and the new bumbacoin source is simply a fix. no new code as such.
just a simple movement to a new code base which works with the original pos setup (original code accepts new code, but cannot stake by itself)

if you go into the console
help > debug window > console
and enter:
getpeerinfo

you can see how many new clients vs old clients are on line

well after hours/days/weeks of work. i've finally managed to compile a windows wallet !!
haha luckily i'm doing it for fun.

the new wallet should just read yr current data directory fine.
so it should be a matter of downloading then opening it.

>>>>
IF everyone were to change at once. we could probably risk a fork or two, as everyone will have way old coins ready and juicy to stake - and they will go off !!

ONE possible thing to do, is before switching to the new wallet, LOCK yr wallet - this will disable staking. (do this with the OLD client)
after starting the new wallet, unlock once you have a few connections, maybe at least 3 (?) connections (my client is currently reporting 6),

this will hopefully help. i figure it's probable that people will switch over in a slightly staggered way due to timezones and what not which will also help.

//
i also figure, giving it at least 24-48 hrs for the chain to settle down before hassling BTER and Cryptsy.

k.
here's all my active nodes - need to be added to CommunityCoin.conf

Code:
addnode=114.112.52.121

addnode=106.187.96.176

disclaimerz:
only tested on windows7 ultimate

i havent used the old windows qt for quite a while, but it does seem the new one takes a while to load ...

Sad i , um , didnt put coin control in it ...
BUT luckily cause i'm doing this for fun, i can try and build another later with coin contrololol.

i'll also try a linux client soon as well.
not sure if i'm ready to try for an OSX one :/// i've got other fish to fry

for anyone interested
i seem to have collected the last 20.3k blocks. lol. i have no idea how much that is. but probably less than 20.3k coinz.

recent bootstrap
just change name to bootstrap.dat

https://www.dropbox.com/s/y3ts3qgibjd5onf/Commstrap.dat?dl=0

hopefully  we'll get a qt compiled soon :/

COMM seems now in maintenance mode on cryptsy .. and stuck a while back

.
i've never used a non-static qt before so no idea on how they work. or how easy they are ..

Any news here? I just noticed that you are working on reviving COMM, it would be awesome if it would be back

Anyone got a fully synched up wallet?

I'm not completely sure.....but I think a blockchain might be a blockchain.....and you "might" be able to simply zip it up and offer it as a download to "duct tape" those synching issues.
just make sure to pull the wallet.dat and probably peers.dat too first*grins*
If I'm wrong.....someone let me know.
I'd build the thing for ya'.....but I've got my static build machine tied up on another project....yet if folks don't mind the external .dlls....I could probably whip one up in an hour or so.

i got a friend charge for 0.7 BTC to fix the code and compile a linux wallet and win wallet .
 Huh

0.7 BTC just to do that wow, you can get a coin made by that loljosh character for 0.3BTC

Yeah, and buying the complete part of a car & assembling it yourself will cost you three times the price of the car. Wink

i've cloned Coin2 code to accept COMM blockchain.

i've asked someone to compile a qt out of it. hopefully he can Smiley
i'll also ask on the cryptocointalk thread .

if anyone else would like to compile the qt. go for it yes !!

so here's COMM 1.5.1 which looks like it is a fix for the staking problem.

https://github.com/bumbacoin/CommunityCoin1.5.1

where is windows wallet?

here's the buzz/summary ...

official code (including qt wallet in OP) will NOT stake past block 525600. it however will work fine for non staking purposes (ie moving and storing coins)

bumbacoin code https://github.com/bumbacoin/communitycoin
will stake past that point. however it will not sync AND there is no qt compiled. (and it will probably break again for the 2nd year anniversary)

- to sync a new bumbacoin compile, you need to first sync using the official code, then switch to bumbacoin code
bootstrap available here https://www.dropbox.com/s/zocywq6ct8dp5lv/bootstrap.dat?dl=0

- to use a staking qt-wallet, one needs to be compiled.
this seems to be proving annoying :p mainly because it uses old code which a lot of people seem to no longer support.

====
NECESSARY STEPS TO MOVE FORWARD

1. proper working code
2. compile new qt-wallets

DESIRED STEPS

1. working explorer
(i approached multi-faucet.tk but they were unwilling to look at it with the buggy code so might need to wait til code is fixed)
