Server builders I'm guessing. Means you can run 4 cards off a board with 1 slot. As server boards are stupidly expensive.

It's no good for us, I mean for £60 I can get a motherboard with 5 pci-e 2 x1 slots so there's no need for stuff like that. You could get the motherboard, and 5 risers for a lot less then just those risers

NOTE: this isn't cudaminer. It's a separate project, so don't expect to find this in the cudaminer trunk.
It might be merged in later on, but there are several proprietary stratum extensions made by the
1gh pool that are a bit messy to merge.  This is the main reason we started with a fresh fork.

2x ASUS OC 750 Ti
2x MSI TF 750 Ti
2x EVGA FTW 750 Ti

EVGA are the best for me.

Running two windows windows concurrently with these settings: -H 2 -i 0 -C 1 -T5x24

Gave me 40-60 kH/s boost across six cards to push me consistently over 1800 kH/s. I still need to re-tweak the ASUS cards as their OC is low and not optimized.


The main point of showing this is that I have been able to recoup some of the "lost kH/s" from the "cudaminer riser bottleneck," but not all of it. Some of these cards will do 340 kH/s when plugged into an x16 slot directly and using the -H2 flag.

It is an active x4 to 4x x1 bridge. They use PLX silicon, so it should be legit. I am getting the sku that allows me to power the card on the "adapter" boards. I have purchased four SATA male to FDD adapters from monoprice and plan to use cards that have a six-pin PCIe power header to make sure I'm not pushing too much current through the adapter board (better safe than sorry). The ribbon cable between the host and adapter board is 3.3VAUX and signals ONLY, so we don't have to worry about melting ribbon cable riser cables. smile.gif

The host to adapter board pinout is GND, PRSNT, TX+,TX-,RX+,RX-,CLK+,CLK-, RST,AUX3v3

If any of you guys who have 4+ rigs under your control and have found a cheaper solutions towards a PCIe bridge/extender, please let me know. I think that this may be one of the best ways to do it.

I confirmed that on my Z87-PRO MB that the first two x16 slots will operate at up to x8 link width while still working with four additional risers. Adding this PCIe extender will allow me to run 9 cards on one motherboard. Theoretically, I could purchase an additional extender and run 13 cards. I will be interested to know what limits I hit with Windows 7x64 + Nvidia driver. I figure after I hit 8 GPU's, I'll need to switch to Linux. It will be interesting to see how things scale with Cudaminer today. I believe that this is how we make the 750 Ti scalable to compete with the higher hash-rate density cards out there on the AMD/ATI side.

Man that is one expensive riser but it sure sounds awesome.

What is the difference between atx version and external version? Don't they both need a regular power supply to run?

I am thinking hard about them. Seems a lot simpler to hook up and run. I am just so confused about do I need a powered or non powered riser. Running at this or that speed. This makes it seem like it is just a "plug and play" type version.

Simpler is better for me.

cannot get GPU use readings, as GPU-z has decided to always crash on start after the previous driver update (revision 334 drivers I think). Currently running R 335 drivers from nvidia.


groestl is on the gpu already, open source; why not use it?

I would consider getting those GTX 750 Ti's if the Dutch energy price wasn't €0.22/kWh... (OF WHICH OVER 50% IS TAXES)
I don't actually pay the power bill either so I morally don't want to waste it too much either...
Not sure what to mine with my single GTX 780 atm...

I want new cudaminer for Maxwell , i think this card ( Nvidia 750ti ) not go at 100% , i think this GPU is more fast and go up to 400 kh/s or more , but cudaminer is not optimizer .

how would you know.

nVidia has their engineers looking into mining performance and they haven't come up with any better code yet.


Funny people say that about the OpenCL code for CGMiner/Yacminer et. al., but those same people never come forward to work on the "problem" - strange what happens when the peanut gallery is allowed to speak Smiley

another concerns (although it seems to work) does the usb 3.0 cable has been designed to carry large current ?
(like that I would assume data transfer requires a rather small intensity and usually usb device doesn't use lot of power)

AFAICT, the USB cable is solely for data transfer and does not carry any power to the riser. Looking at the USB risers I have, I see traces for pins 11, 14, 15, & 17 (B side), and 1, 11, 13, 14, 16, & 17 (A side). 17/B and 1/A are connected and considered one so that makes 9 used pins in total, perfect for the USB 3.0's 9 wire design, and leaves no room for power. Power pins are not connected. [edit] This is why USB 3.0 cables are necessary and USB 2.0 cables won't work. The former has 9 pins while the latter only has 4.
