Here is Dero's official statement regarding ASICs: We are aware of their existence and once the appropriate information is available we can deal with them. Without providing technical details we do have a fairly strong idea of how these are built and what they're built with.

Information will be shared publicly regarding exactly how these ASICs work once people around the world get their hands on them to take them apart. If by some small chance the CryptoNight community does not work together to solve this problem (that would be a FIRST) I will personally drop the $20,000 USD to buy the 3 well advertised ASICs to let our developers literally tear them apart and you can hold me to that.

Hi Serena,

Since DERO has been rewriting cryptonight in golang for a while now, would a change to prevent ASICs take even longer for DERO to adopt? Most other cryptonight coins can just copy/paste the new algo and be done since they are just clones for the most part. Would it be wise for DERO to start now?

I guess it\ll be opensource upgrade to Cryptonight V7, and devs will see how others can change their projects to have immune(resist) to asics

Above Golang DERO is for beta testing and will try to update binary also. Meanwhile src is updated and you can build on any GO system go get -u github.com/deroproject/derosuite/...
For existing daily usages you should use only https://github.com/deroproject/dero   as sending transactions and transfer functionality is missing in beta release. Though you can create wallet and check balances etc.

This coin may be difficult to mine, but the project is easy to support especially compared to all the unsavory pump-n-dump and Ponzi scheme coins out there.

How do you mean it's difficult to mine?

Just that it requires a lot of hashrate to mine DERO (ie - the difficulty is high). Today isn't so bad, but for most of the last 3 months my 1.9kH/s Cryptonight rig would only make about 4-6 DERO per day.

EDIT - just as I posted this the transaction went through, so this message is moot. Leaving it here just in case anyone else wonders about their mining payments.

Good to see all went fine.
I really like reading your posts as they are very clear and technical. You always try to be plain and honest in your wordings.

I just made a withdrawal from Stock Exchange 40 Dero, fee 0.07 Dero and it went through smoothly to my dero wallet. Not sure how long it took exactly but it was less than 10 mins.

Yo @CaptDero, did you change the priority for outgoing payments on the official pool because the last one sent to me occurred 40 minutes ago but it still hasn't shown up in the wallet and the daemon reports it is synced up.

Normally I wouldn't worry about this, but Windoze decided to update itself* on the computer I run my wallets on (no mining) and I've had a helluva time getting everything working again.

* - and yes, I stopped the Windows Update Service, but that no longer seems to be a sure-fire way of disabling updates.

EDIT - just as I posted this the transaction went through, so this message is moot. Leaving it here just in case anyone else wonders about their mining payments.

What a time to be alive  Cheesy So you guys say it's now safer to withdraw more coins from stocks.exchange?

I just tried a withdrawal of 50 and it went through. I tried 120 around an hour before that though and ran into an error.

Capt. D wrote he had a successful withdrawal of 248 so I figured.. Anyway, I'll wait some more with that withdrawal.  Smiley

After every withdrawal CryotoNote Protocol locks most of the wallet balance for next 10 blocks , Have updated exchange to approve withdrawal based on unlocked balance rather than wallet balance or use multiple wallets.
