I fixed the checkpoints issue and added a few more checkpoints. The new version 1.2 is released, please upgrade. This is not a mandatory upgrade though. The download links at OP are updated. The source in github also updated.

Still can't sync wallet past block 30560

This looks like a checkpoint mismatch. Not sure why it was not caught in our tests. We will fix this issue as soon as possible, sorry for any inconvenience. This will not affect those who already passed this point.

ok, as this is a coin that can actually be mined solo, I"d like to try it. lol. I don't unserstand, really, how to create the config file. What info do I put in the username.password section?
you have to make a file emerald.conf (not .txt). the information depend buy yourself.

Cannot get the client to sync. Seems stuck on block 30560. I have the 1.1 version is there a newer one?
1.1 is the latest one I believe, I have no problem to sync. Maybe quit and restart? Do you have active connections?
Yes, I have 5 connections to the network and all look good. I deleted everything and tried starting over but still no go. Guess it just doesn't like me.
I tried with and without the nodes on the first page, same results.

Same (I mean stuck on same block) and yes I also have 8 connections, it simply stops at that block

so difficul for EMD on cryptsy. may be trade on coins e now. 
the problem with coins-e, is that the volume is too low. But I did see good volume in a few, such as IFC, Anon, etc. May need time for people to get to know it.

now account balance is 0, (was over 7500) and the only transaction says -2794.4016966199 not sure if its even in my wallet because i am at work

tried to take my over 7500 coins out of emd.scryptmining.com pool and it says transaction goes through and then it never does.
This is an error with the daemon. For whatever reason it throws an error when it tries to create a large transaction (even when I try it manually). I've manually sent out the balance in smaller chunks, and it should be visible to you now (can post tx id's if required).
Sorry for the delay in you getting your coins. I'll write some code to have the system break it into smaller chunks as well, in the future, and avoid the manual intervention.
