Is it open source?
Yes it will be open source, native and Java, with Android and iPhone mobile wallets planned if adoption is sufficient.

Nope not at all, just state your wish to participate, and some means of contacting you in the future over PM, and I'll add you to the list. When we are ready to go, I'll get in touch with you and provide the client etc that you need to use.
We'll probably scale up over the course of the beta, from maybe 50 or so to start, and bring more online over the course of the 2 weeks and beyond past the production turn on.
Selection is basically 1st come 1st in.
