I've tried, cpuminer-sandy, and sse2 also.. but it starts, gets the latest block count then windows says the normal cpuminer has caused a problem blah blah.

I now see what is causing your issue. cpuminer-opt-sse2 is the correct execuatble for you to be running for a core 2 chip. cpuminer-opt (at least for espers' hmq1725 algo) only works while pool mining. It crashes when trying to solo mine.

Added a Core 2 Quad at 40Kh/s..

Also I am using CPU Miner on another rig i7-2600 but am only getting about 80, not the performance that someone updated in the chart..

I was also surprised that the i7 2600 gets almost the same hashrate as my i7 4820k.
Maybe I need to OC Cheesy

I was able to get to 180 KH/s just with an mild overclock, so if you can, try overclocking Cheesy

that's the point mate if you received it for free why you hurrying to dump it? much better to hold it and wait for the coin to finish all the road plan and see the results i just don't get it why their are so many opportunist here and just waiting for the free give away and then sell it right not helping the community.
