Could someone provide some info regarding running an ETC node.

What is the best way to set it up and how much resources does it consume on average (cpu, ram...).

Edit: For a headless linux server.

3,9 % CPU of 1 Core and 1050 MB Ram (with 512 MB Cache) but this node also a pool node.
A standalone node without mining would use 1 - 2 % CPU of 1 Core

A couple weeks ago, Bitwala started accepting all major altcoins for our services, http://about.bitwa.la/bitwala-accepting-all-major-cryptocurrencies/

We are now also accepting Ethereum Classic! Bitwa.la is the first service to international offer bank transfers and a debit card that lets you directly use Ether Classic as a funding option. Please let us know if you have any questions or suggestions!

Cheers
Jeff from bitwa.la

More and more exchanges want the original Ethereum classic available for the people. This means it is really not going away. What will happen to Vitalik if his fork fails? Will he go back to the original chain?

I think Vitalik will want to leave ETH soon but seems likely he needs to stay to avoid being sued. What is clear with ETC is that people who love crypto are taking a stand of what we want crypto to stand for.

And that is not a bail out. Funny anecdote when Bitcoin was created the Bitcoin genesis contained the message "The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks".

Vitalik knows his crypto history so I doubt he supported a bailout HF. My guess would be that he is being used by the people around him.

Etc is not profitable unlesh yoy have free electricity or cheap.

This is not correct.

Considering the hashrate has brutally crashed, difficulty is now so much lower.

ETC is only 10% behind ETH in profitability now.
(from 300% ahead on launch)

according to cryptocompare calculator ETC is actually more profitable right now

As miners leave the show, the difficulty sinks and the rewards are bigger for those left.

Still a bit behind here.

You also need to take into account people mining on the speculation that the price will increase. I've done that with great success before. Following raw profitability can sometimes end up with you getting the worst of all worlds, due to the delay in getting the coins to an exchange Wink
