Let's make this thread alive again, as Bitcoin has pumped to $36,000 once again and getting closer to the 3/4 of the ATH on 2021. ETH is also doing well.
As of typing this, $1900 is its current price and just a few more steps to get back to $2k and I think from there then it's going to be easy to reach the next price points of thousands like $3k on wards as we're about to enter into the bull run.

Different types of layer 2s
The Ethereum layer 2 ecosystem has been expanding rapidly over the last year. The EVM rollup ecosystem, traditionally featuring Arbitrum, Optimism and Scroll, and more recently Kakarot and Taiko, has been progressing quickly, making great strides on improving their security; the L2beat page does a good job of summarizing the state of each project. Additionally, we have seen teams building sidechains also starting to build rollups (Polygon), layer 1 projects seeking to move toward being validiums (Celo), and totally new efforts (Linea, Zeth...). Finally, there is the not-just-EVM ecosystem: "almost-EVMs" like Zksync, extensions like Arbitrum Stylus, and broader efforts like the Starknet ecosystem, Fuel and others.

Millions of dollars worth of various tokens tied to the crypto wallets of bankrupt firms FTX and Alameda Research were moved to wallets of crypto exchange Binance. The funds include $2.2 million worth of Chainlink's LINK, $1 million worth of Aave protocol's AAVE, $2 million in Maker's MKR, and $3.4 million in ether (ETH). It is presumed that these funds were sent to Binance to be sold. FTX and Alameda collapsed last year and are currently undergoing bankruptcy proceedings

Well even with rumors going round about Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin, he still says he hasnt sold any of this ETH since 2018. I believe him but do wonder why he did not sell when price was $5,000.

You should not invest based on Vitalik Buterin's transactions, because no one except him knows about all his wallets. Transactions on his famous wallets are usually discussed in the news:

Investments require more knowledge and analytics.

Layer-2 transactions accounted for over 60% of all Ethereum activity in Q3

https://twitter.com/MessariCrypto/status/1711380660269830321
Activity across layer-2 networks is booming as transactions on these products accounted for more than 60% of all Ethereum activity in Q3, 2023. According to data from Messari, Coinbase’s Base network in a moment was doing “more transactions than Ethereum Mainnet.

Nonetheless, Arbitrum is still on top among other layer-2 networks with 600,000 average daily transactions, compared to 400,000 for Optimism and Base, the firm pointed out.”

Vitalik Buterin has shared details of how hackers managed to take over his Twitter account and steal $691,000 from his followers last week.

In a post on decentralized social network Farcaster, the Ethereum co-founder told followers that hackers had used a SIM swap attack to spoof Twitter into resetting his Twitter password, giving them access to his account and his 4.9 million followers.

“It was a SIM swap, meaning that someone socially-engineered T-Mobile itself to take over my phone number,” said Buterin.

Wow a SIM swap! Tel Companies are a danger outsourcing cheap delicate services with no guarantee of good data control.

About the hack, it'd be funnier to short ETH and post something like:

https://asumetech.com/five-out-of-six-largest-ethereum-block-builders-comply-with-ofac-sanctions-reveals-new-report/
"Ethereum Block Builders and Growing Censorship Concerns
Ethereum can set new records in 2023
A recent report reveals that five out of the six largest Ethereum block builders now comply with the United States Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) sanctions. The report, authored by Ethereum researcher and data analyst Toni Wahrstätter, highlights a notable increase in censorship in recent months.

Ethereum’s Censorship Concerns
According to the report, censorship exists at multiple levels within the Ethereum ecosystem. Validators have the power to selectively include or exclude transactions in blocks, while relays can filter blocks based on certain rules. Builders can also choose to omit specific transactions. These layers of censorship raise concerns about the neutrality and decentralization of the blockchain.

Wahrstätter’s report suggests that censorship resistance is crucial for maintaining political neutrality in blockchains. Decentralization is a fundamental principle, as centralization at any layer of the Ethereum stack can potentially harm the entire ecosystem."

Ethereum Developers Appear Successful in Second Attempt at Holesky Test Network Launch
The original planned launch date of Holesky, on Sept. 15, was supposed to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Ethereum’s historic “Merge” transition. But things didn't go so smoothly. Now developers are trying again.
Ethereum developers on Thursday appeared successful in their second attempt to launch the Holesky test network, after an attempt earlier this month failed.

Hello everyone, any ICO participants of Ethereum still here? i'm having fun creating merkle airdrops and i'm thinking of creating an OG token exclusive for all those who have accounts in the Ethereum genesis block. i'm not an ICO participant but if anyone is interested, i can still do it. just a merkle airdrop 100% for ETH OG. i can just rely on OG tokens donations if you want me to keep on building fun stuff.

This is some kind of a job application. I'm applying for a job to all Ethereum ICO participants. it starts with creating a merkle airdrop based on ethereum genesis distribution. no dev premine, no preallocation.

you can claim the same amount of OG tokens based on your Ethereum genesis balance.
And i can keep on building value of those OG tokens, and rely on your OG token donations.

When do i start? Smiley

Thank you for hiring me, Eth OG's.

Vitalik Buterin previews a future built on Ethereum
Permissionless: Ethereum co-founder urges attendees in Austin to keep an eye on the frontier of what’s possible with crypto tech

Crypto-based solutions have the potential to be more decentralized, privacy-preserving and secure than the current Web2 landscape, according to Buterin, citing building blocks such as ENS, various proof-of-humanity ideas, and POAPs — or a next generation version using zero-knowledge technology that will be even better — and Gitcoin Passport, as examples.

“The big dream here is to like, really create an independent open tech stack,” Buterin said. Something to compete with the likes of Google and Twitter, without going down a closed, centralized system such as China’s tight integration of Wechat, Alipay and increasingly CBDC.

Simple hack satoshi told me. Well at least founder number one of Ethereum right now is caring to all his coin he already invented to the who people or person in need. Is not the twitter problem is to blame it for sure, and all those attack to him. If Ethereum founder number one already understand the code from bitcoin of all from satoshi nakamoto and the other founder for now. I believe founder number one will be more attractive and creatively to design his own coin, but not just Ethereum but all of coin he's (founder number one the D)

Happy great day to everyone,
Cheer up, thank's you

The life satoshi nakamoto is telling us now is the most person why to live it from the start. But please founder number one of ethereum. Please let people mining to do by Proof-of-work. So all people in the entire universe can help or happy with it

The first legal precedent in the US, Ethereum is a commodity
https://www.coindesk.com/policy/2023/08/31/us-court-calls-eth-a-commodity-while-tossing-investor-suit-against-uniswap/
"A New York court has dismissed a proposed class action lawsuit alleging leading decentralized crypto exchange Uniswap was responsible for causing harm to investors by allowing scam tokens to be issued and traded on the protocol.
The Judge, who oversees the SEC lawsuit against Coinbase, classified ether (ETH) as a commodity in her opinion on the ruling, even as the SEC has shied away from doing so."

Ethereum Foundation introduce the Ethereum Execution Layer Specification
After more than a year in development, we're pleased to publicly introduce the Ethereum Execution Layer Specification (affectionately known as EELS.) EELS is a Python reference implementation of the core components of an Ethereum execution client focused on readability and clarity. Intended as a spiritual successor to the Yellow Paper that's more programmer friendly and up-to-date with post-merge forks, EELS can fill and execute state tests, follow mainnet1, and is a great place to prototype new EIPs.

EELS provides complete snapshots of the protocol at each fork—including upcoming ones—making it much easier to follow than EIPs (which only propose changes) and production clients (which often mix multiple forks in the same codepath.)

https://www.coindesk.com/business/2023/08/23/ether-staking-demand-remains-unfazed-as-eigenlayer-100k-eth-cap-limit-filled-within-hours/
"Decentralized finance (DeFi) platform EigenLayer has seen a 207% surge in total value locked (TVL) after it raised its liquid restaking cap to 100,000 ether (ETH).
The restaking protocol, which went live in June, hit the 100,000 cap in a matter of hours as TVL rose from $78 million to $238 million, according to DefiLlama. TVL refers to the number of tokens locked on any crypto platform."
