Bloomberg Interview With Ethereum Founder - Vitalik Buterin

http://bitguru.co.uk/should-there-be-less-supply-in-eth-vitalik-thinks-so/

Should there be less supply in ETH? Vitalik thinks so.

Vitalik Buterin, the cofounder of the Ethereum blockchain and ETH, one of the foremost cryptocurrencies after bitcoin, just recently gave an interview to Bloomberg.

What did he talk about?

The 23 year old digital currency co founder is seeing all these projects with their various respective digital currencies and is wondering if there is an excessive supply of ether...........

Does he want to change the original plan again?

I have often noticed that the Ethereum is artificially held at $ 300, and most likely it is already worth 500-600 dollars in the potential, and after the second stage of the hardfork it can fly to $ 1000.
I don't think it's artificially held anywhere. You seem to be forgetting that Ethereum gets dumped in order to fund ICO projects once the ICOs are over, so that negates most of the buy power of Ethereum. It's meant as an investing token after all.

Well i couldn't agree with you more on that, honestly i think this too many ico funds is really affecting the potential of ether to fly of late, ether has been dancing around $300+ for some time now couple with the ico's pressure, hopefully a break out will be soon, so eager to see this technology fly to its full potential.
It's actually flying towards its potential in my opinion. People just use it in one way and expect it to do another. I don't hold any Ether and only about ~30% BTC.

...no, Eth is meant to be fuel for EVM operations. Its simply being used as investment.
Same thing, different language.

STARKs, Part I: Proofs with Polynomials

http://vitalik.ca/general/2017/11/09/starks_part_1.html

Nov 9, 2017

Special thanks to Eli Ben-Sasson for ongoing help, explanations and review, coming up with some of the examples used in this post, and most crucially of all inventing a lot of this stuff; thanks to Hsiao-wei Wang for reviewing

Hopefully many people by now have heard of ZK-SNARKs, the general-purpose succinct zero knowledge proof technology that can be used for all sorts of usecases ranging from verifiable computation to privacy-preserving cryptocurrency. What you might not know is that ZK-SNARKs have a newer, shinier cousin: ZK-STARKs. With the T standing for “transparent”, ZK-STARKs resolve one of the primary weaknesses of ZK-SNARKs, its reliance on a “trusted setup”. They also come with much simpler cryptographic assumptions, avoiding the need for elliptic curves, pairings and the knowledge-of-exponent assumption and instead relying purely on hashes and information theory; this also means that they are secure even against attackers with quantum computers.

However, this comes at a cost: the size of a proof goes up from 288 bytes to a few hundred kilobytes. Sometimes the cost will not be worth it, but at other times, particularly in the context of public blockchain applications where the need for trust minimization is high, it may well be. And if elliptic curves break or quantum computers do come around, it definitely will be.......

All of the wallet issues recently plus some downtime of the mining pools for ether (example minergate today) means lower supply; meaning price will go up. Actually it is going quite up today.

Let's see for how long.

On the way to a new ATH?

It is possible after segwit cancelation. Eth is one of the strongest coins. I have some investment.

Parity Launches Support Website In Wake of Exploit

U.K.-based startup Parity Technologies is opening lines of communication with users a day after a code vulnerability locked hundreds out of their ethereum wallets.

Issued in an alert Wednesday, the provider of software for the world's second-largest blockchain explained what went wrong and launched a website where users can check their addresses to see if their funds were affected. Parity also posted an email address for users to contact the company.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the wallet-checking website showed that 584 wallets and 573 people have been affected by the exploit. However, it's not clear if this is a final number or if it's simply the latest one that the company has tallied.

Parity was not immediately available for comment.

The security alert goes on to describe how a flaw in the company's code was exploited following a patch in July that fixed a prior vulnerability:

"Unfortunately, that code contained another vulnerability which was undiscovered at the time – it was possible to turn the Parity Wallet library contract into a regular multi-sig wallet and become an owner of it by calling the initWallet function."

The person who discovered the fault did so and then deleted the new wallet, Parity said, in statements that showcase the company's "current understanding" of the incident.

As CoinDesk previously reported, the ethereum community is now seeking to understand how best to respond to the incident, given that a hard fork of the software may be necessary. No other known solutions have been put forward to restore the frozen ether to their owners, though it's possible one could be forthcoming.

According to informal estimates, as much as $150 million worth of cryptocurrency may be currently inaccessible.

So only Parity Wallet users might be affected by it, right?
If ppl are using MEW or metamask, then don't need to worry?

Are you using multisig in the first place? Theres been a malformed library which was the issue.
