it's funny to look back at the early posts about Ethereum and see all the negativity and hate. now look where it is  Grin

Yes, I love ethereum so much! Since ethereum boost it will also affect ethereum gold and will give a big boost Smiley

Based on a confidential research Ethereum Gold (ETG) is expected to increase by 200% from it's current value this November 2017. And may unbelievably explode to an all time high increase of 2,500% by December 2017

Details are not disclosed.

Anyway we can monitor it here:

ETH dying  Embarrassed

Never, never and never. An idea may never die. Price doesn't mean everything. The main thing is project, dev, idea not price

happy price back $ 300, and this seems like the beginning of price increases, hopefully not drop again, I expect the price to reach $ 400 this year.

Indeed this would happen for sure I think after bitcoin fork the whole situation will get changed and price will start rising. Anything can happen in crypto universe this market has so big potential so that strong believers is making huge profit.

I think it depends..
There is possible scenario, that fork will cause a problems with bitcoin network(s) - some kind of miners wars, which will lead to general loss of confidence in cryptocurrency.

Except fork, for price impact will have supply growth, and it depends how algorithm changes will be implemented.. for now I can see that daily block rewards is constant: https://etherscan.io/chart/ethersupply ..
And now diff/hashrate ratio is rather constant, too.
We will see if new ether from mining will be replaced with ether from staking or if we have less new ether daily at all..

For now we can see hashrate isn't growing which could mean there will be no major price fluctuations in near future

Survey: 33% of Younger Americans Plan to Invest in Ethereum
Younger Americans are far more likely to invest in ethereum, bitcoin, and other cryptocurrencies than people from older age groups.
According to a survey commissioned by student loan consolidation service LendEDU and conducted by OnePoll, American adults between the ages of 18 and 34 are much more aware of cryptocurrencies than older generations and are consequently much more likely to invest in crypto assets. Following up a September survey that gauged interest in Bitcoin, LendEDU asked 1,000 U.S. citizens about their familiarity with ethereum and ripple, the second- and third-largest cryptocurrencies by market cap, as well as initial coin offerings (ICOs).

What do you think about Ethereum stall in price. It is floating arround 300usd for last 5 months after x10 raise. Do you think it will stay raise or fall with Casper update?

buy the rumor, sell the news. Price would most definitely rise up till Casper update after bitcoin fork is done.

This is a good time to accumulate more Ethereum, I'm holding because I don't want to repeat same mistakes again and again. I make my plans for 2019. I believe patience is a virtue. When Ethereum finish PoW stage and start PoS it will be better.

Ethereum’s Casper Update On The Horizon: What You Need To Know
by William Peaster

Ethereum’s developers have announced the platform’s highly anticipated Casper update could be rolled out potentially as early as the next “Constantinople” hard-fork.

Casper will represent the initialization of Ethereum’s shift away from the Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus protocol toward a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) protocol.

Importantly, the final rendtion of Casper isn’t finalized yet. ETH’s top developers are scrutinizing two renditions of Casper—what they’ve termed Casper CBC and Casper FFG.

For now, though, it looks like the devs are leaning toward the FFG version. As the Casper FFG whitepaper points out:

“Casper is a partial consensus mechanism combining proof-of-stake algorithm research and Byzantine fault-tolerant consensus theory.”

Essentially, then, the FFG version will be the “blueprint” that Ethereum follows in switching to PoS. Conversely, the CBC rendition will actually govern Ethereum’s consensus process once the PoS system is implemented.

When it comes down to it, the final edition of Casper will surely be inspired by the best parts of both Casper CBC and Casper FFG....

This shift will allow “stakers” to secure the ETH network for annual profits by holding their coins in approved wallets as opposed to the current system in which miners are responsible for securing the network.

Seeing to it that Casper’s implemented smoothly will mark a milestone years in the coming for the team.

Indeed, the situation looks bright now, as ETH founder Vitalik Buterin’s saying everything’s mapped out nicely:

“It should be done … I would say very soon. The parts that aren’t done are fine details of the contract. The actual spec of the fork is not going to be particularly complex. It’s basically just increase the balance of a contract then change the fork choice rule by adding a couple function calls going into the Casper contract. If those details change, that would not affect anything of the client implementation by much.”

Hey,

I tried reading about Casper and stuff, also devcon briefs, but I couldn't really get this part: "his shift will allow “stakers” to secure the ETH network for annual profits by holding their coins in approved wallets". Would that mean that some ETH hodlers will get a kind of dividents or?

I have mistakenly transferred my Stox token to ETC address..
is there anyway to get it back?

Do you hold the private key for that address?

Metropolis Part 2: Constantinople and What It Brings to Ethereum

https://cryptocanucks.com/metropolis-part-2-constantinople-ethereum/

After a successful integration of the first part of the Metropolis Hard Fork, Byzantium, Ethereum has it’s eyes set on Constantinople. The second part of the Metropolis hard fork will introduce new features and may finally include the foundations for the Casper Proof-of-Stake.

Foundations for Casper
According to the most recent Ethereum Core Dev Meeting, Constantinople will be shedding light onto a new hybrid PoS/PoW blockchain. With this new update, transactions on the Ethereum network will continue to be mined using the current Proof of Work ( PoW ) Consensus Algorithm, but 1 out of every 100 blocks will be validated using the new Proof of Stake consensus algorithm.

Difficulty Time Bomb
The difficulty time bomb or better known as the Ethereum Ice Age, was delayed in Byzantium due to the increase in block times coming up to the initial fork. With Constantinople, there will be no delay in the difficulty time bomb and we can expect to see the effects of the Ice Age in about ~12 months.  The difficulty time bomb is a mechanism used to make mining less profitable and much harder in order to forcefully move network participants towards the Proof of Stake chain.

EIP-86
Another EIP ( Ethereum Improvement Protocol ) which was set to be included in Byzantium, but later deferred to be included in Constantinople, is EIP-86. EIP-86 brings account abstraction to the Ethereum network which will allow users to have more control over their private keys. EIP-86 will also allow for smart contracts to pay transaction fees rather than always having the sender settle the Gas payments.

Overall, Constantinople will be introducing the much needed building blocks for Ethereum’s switch to the Casper Proof of Stake protocol. It will also be re-introducing some improvements that were meant to be included in Byzantium but were deferred to Constantinople. The benefits of Proof of Stake vs Proof of Work will be discussed in another article, but one of the main benefits of PoS is the lack of a need to use expensive hardware and electricity to validate transactions.

Meanwhile ethereum biggest competitor Ethereum Classic has grown significantly.
what is strange it coincidences with bitcoin  price drops once again..

But, ethereum will rise in terms of btc  with no doubts.. I think it should reach about 0.1 btc one day again, but what will be usd price then? It is very hard to predict  Huh
