I just realized I have a sizeable amount of ETC in my Eth fork wallet.  What do I need to do to get access to that?  Is it as simple as installing the ETC wallet and importing my Eth seed?

Bump!

That is entirely fine with me, but I'm purely interested in primary function as a crypto-currency.

Why would anyone be interested in a crypto-currency that has unlimited supply and can be easily forked at the will of a limited group of bagholders?

lol thanks to you you get it . its not the difficult to understand isnt it .
a unlimitied currency easy to fork and plans to go pos.
sure it will fall in price.

That is right. If the issurance is not so big, the price will also rise.

That is a naive statement - this is 2nd biggest crypto-currency network.

Any network that suffers a 51% attack will require a remedial fork to clear up the mess - so you've not really research your opposition to forks, because they are compulsory in certain situations.

From what Vitalik Buterin published 15 hours ago, he listed costings at:

1% issuance equals $50 million costing on the remedial fork

0% issuance equals $5 million costing on the remedial fork.

From these costings for Ethereum Network at the current market valuation $700 million the Ethereum community will probably choose an issuance below 0.5% to minimise the security theoretical costings.

This annual increase of coinage, will be below 45,000 Eth. As opposed to the current production of 12 million Eth.

Then, there is the current electricity bill for the entire Ethereum Network that can be costed at $0.10 at eye-watering amount of $28 million!

Ouch Grin

This is being funded by investors and miners who are accumulating Ethereum.

Annual production at issuance 0.5% equals $360,000 of costings, assuming these are sold off by investors.

Nearly all of metrics say: the investors in Ethereum are going too have plenty of spare cash through the $28 million saving on electricity too achieve a higher price than the current POW price.

Yelp, the Casper POS is a win and win situation for the Ethereum Network and investors - no-one who does the Maths is going to say a saving of $27.6 million is going to cause falling market prices.

Finally, there are a whole sweep of businesses under development expecting to be deployed in 2017 and 2018, which will further increase the market price of Ethereum.

lets agree we disagree
wish you a happy new year

Reads like Casper POS is in the last stage of testing: "hopefully soon Casper PoS "

And, the community is discussing issuance and cost implications of dealing with 51% attacks requiring a post attack fork.

" From here, we can certainly debate tradeoffs between competing values . Do we give ETH a 1% annual issuance rate and get an $50 million cost of forcing a remedial hard fork, or a zero annual issuance rate and get a $5 million cost of forcing a remedial hard fork? When do we increase a protocol’s security under the economic model in exchange for decreasing its security under a fault tolerance model? Do we care more about having a predictable level of security or a predictable level of issuance?"

A proper debating point on the issuance level.

I wanted to synchronize my wallet today. But i find out you updated wallet version 15 days ago. I see Ethereum-Wallet-win64-0-8-8.zip in github. But theres no Ethereum-Wallet-win64-0-8-8.exe. May you please explain how to use Ethereum-Wallet-win64-0-8-8.zip to update my current wallet?
When i unpack Ethereum-Wallet-win64-0-8-8.zip and start Ethereum Wallet.exe its just stay stucked at synchronization(96 917 block left)....

Process has been posted on this ANN 100's of time, go back through the thread and read those posts.

Or have a look on youtube, where there are many guides on wallet updates.

Download the zip versions with free standing package, it easier to update that way.

Yes, Ethereum does unlimited scope for progress.

The fork process gives Ethereum the unlimited scope to become the most resistance network to network attacks and unlimited scope for network improvements.

Yes, Ethereum network has unlimited potential to become something amazing Smiley

The problem with ethereum is that it is not even in a beta stage. Too many people throw money into it and it opens up a lot of problems. Such a platform that ethereum are should be developed under 2-3 years time before anybody should invest in it. Peoples greed makes them jump into projects like this and they hope to become rich quickly. Ethereum are also faulty by design.
fast and break it. just to make a world computer work. its not at all a store of value. thevictemof... does not understand what ethereum is. he or she thinks its a investement and a little guy can get rich with it. but vitalik and co dont look out for everyday people the daofork showed that .
i think a world computer would be a great idea but only if it makes the world a better place for every one not just for a small elite.

Well, Ethereum primary function is as a crypto-currency. Therefore, discussing it's current valuation, as to whether it is underpriced, is completely legitimate.

However, most people are quite bored about discussing the primary functions of crypto-currencies and they prefer too spend their time discussing the many secondary purposes that Ethereum could or can be used for.

That is entirely fine with me, but I'm purely interested in primary function as a crypto-currency.
gosh it  is a world comupter not primary  a currency.....
just go to youtube and put in ethereum for dummies and listen  dr. gavin woods did a good one  vitalik did one

Dear Sir/Madam

These are the youtube clips about the term "World Computer".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j23HnORQXvs

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OLAcUPHuW0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2fhwMKk2Eg

From everything stated: "World Computer" only means the sum total of all economic and social activities using the Ethereum blockchain technology.

Dr Gavin Wood - is the principle pusher of this PR term: "World Computer".

However, sum total of everything happening on the Ethereum Network is not sum total setting the economic price of Ethereum on the markets.
