The ETH 2.0 testnet ‘Medalla’ came to a grinding halt due to a time-bug that took a majority of testnet validators offline. This is the first instance of the network coming to a stop.

https://coingeek.com/ethereum-2-0-testnet-goes-offline/

If this Ethereum 2.0 tanks hard, what will happen to the prospects of the Ethereum project, will it start to dwindle or will it have no to little effect? Will it simply just go on in it's current state? Can anyone tell me if there is a plan B if the problems we have seen with the 2.0 testnet continues,

Every project will have a bug or two in their codes it's a good thing that it was caught in the testnet version of the network and, they quickly fixed it. No need to worry for now, I guess finding bugs is normal procedure in testnet.

Sure, I get what you are saying. As long as they can fix the problems that pop up the project will be better off. That being said if they end up finding a lot more bugs and problems, Ethereum 2.0 might possibly be delayed or somehow altered compared to original plans???

It depend on the approach how they will take it up if they will failed to fix these bugs on time than surely it might get delayed as like happening there. Testnet purpose to discover the bugs and fix them and monitor them how it will gone smoothly after this.

ETH 2.0 Medalla testnet crash resolved after developer efforts
On August 14, the network struggled to reach finality for more than 90 minutes. ETH developers were aware that a severe bug is reason behind the delay. Before the issue can be resolved, many testnet users saw their ETH holdings decline by as much as 75 percent.

The developers later discovered that Prsym clients had been infected by a Cloudflare time bug. Problematic roughtime responses on Prysm were connected to the Medalla testnet crash. Prysm depends on Cloudflare, a third-party infrastructure provider.

At the time of writing, 32 ETH is worth over 12,000 USD.
This investment might be out of reach for many users.
The Micropools mechanism is our unique solution for kicking down the economic barriers for Ethereum 2.0 staking.
As the name implies, Micropools allow users to chip in portions of ETH towards a Validator, and receive a proportionate reward based on their contribution. All fully decentralized and without giving up custody of your tokens!

E.g. If a person stakes 1 ETH in a Micropool, they will receive 3.125% of all rewards earned by that Validator.

The benefits that Micropooling will provide to the Ethereum ecosystem, and any other PoS protocols that decide to implement Stkr will be apparent, as staked security from a larger amount of users promotes decentralization and resilience from any malicious actors distorting governance.
But most importantly, it opens up staking to many hundreds of thousands of investors who would not otherwise be able to participate in Ethereum 2.0 staking.
While other projects have tried providing this experience through DPoS, Stkr is the first decentralized pool function available. We are very excited to see how this enables everyone to stake and how the landscape changes accordingly.

Server owners can provide computing power to the platform. To be able to do this, they must stake a certain amount of ANKR tokens to ensure a minimum threshold of performance and availability is guaranteed. Poor performance is penalized and slashed stakes will be compensates to the end user from the stake. Good performance is rewarded with higher returns, with additional stake further increasing the rewards. If providers are hosting Ethereum 2.0 nodes, they will also receive ETH rewards.

I have followed Ethereum for years, so I will give you advice not to panic.
This was the first project, many mistakes were made, but without this it is impossible. Now the project has the best team of programmers in the world and they will definitely finish what they started. The most difficult thing is to take the first step, after starting phase 0 the process should go faster.

I am having problems accessing old ETH address created with Ledger Nano S and MEW a few years ago. I assume it is because of an exotic derivation path I used back then. Is there any way (or tool) to determine the derivation path from a provided ETH address?

Things are not looking great for ETH 2.0 right now if we are being honest.

dudes, eth 2.0 is becoming much harder and frustrating that first thought.  even vitalik feels so.....

The total value of the outstanding Ethereum futures contracts reached a new high of $1.5 billion. The value of open Ethereum futures grew twice as fast as Bitcoin's since February.

It is too hard to try to estimate what the price will be in the near future, the whole market is too volatile.

ETH is not usable anymore 5$ - 7$ per transaction is too much.
You have missed the 2017 ATH, fees for bitcoin were more than that. Anyone has an idea what's with the pump that we're seeing with Ethereum? I'm surprised to see that it suddenly pushed to $400 and now it's $430. This is likely to break to $500 and that's a price of others to think of selling but I won't. We still don't have the 2.0 yet it's making a pump.

You shouted when the gas price was 100 gwei, but what can you say now?
AAAAAA..
The world is going crazy, for Defi projects no exchanges are needed now, it is enough to create a pool on Uniswap and take a couple of well-known programmers as advisors.

Gas prices are going up like crazy lol and, I think it's going to go further up because the network is extremely clogged right now with over 150k pending transactions, and if you sort gas fee from high to low some guys are paying 5200 GWEI as gas fees.

Well this look insane price for fees , how coul ìd people made a transaction if it cost that much? only people who got lot money can effort to pay such big fees

A couple of days back I had to pay a $15-$20 fee to transfer some WETH from one address to another and since that, I stopped using ETH for now lol.
Ever since YAM collapsed gas price is coming down though.
