Here at bitember we run backups 6 times a day, so you can rest assured your coins are safe.

Just to post what i posted in the other thread in response to a guy saying I f'ed with up (really was to do with webcoin.us's pool):

1) Anyone who runs a pool without backing up the wallet that stores all addresses has no business running a pool.

2) The update didn't or couldn't do anything to the wallet - it updated the difficulty max adjustment, added a checkpoint, etc

3) Any errors communicating is by design - all prior release wallet communication would be dropped - there was a critical fix to prevent forking of the blockchain, there was warning for 3 days that these fixes were coming, I gave over 24 hours notice of the source and binaries (that's the shortest i could risk with the issues that were occurring), posted this information in the forums, and sent out alerts via the alert system.

4) Should we have forked after a week? Allowing more auto forks because of irresponsible pool operators allowing 90% of the hashrate in a single pool to fork the blockchain again?

With that said, hopefully the webcoin.us guy has a backup of the corrupted wallet.

So, is this fixed? I abandoned it when it was launched before because of mislaunch....?

Or just a reannouncement only?
Wasn't so much a mislaunch as it was pools forking it, I've since made changes to the block time, difficulty, maturity etc.  there was at one point a guy mining it with 220 mH  - in a pool

Can you explain the "Proof-of-Block" a little more? I don't get it? You can get coins when you make transactions? Or am I misunderstanding? Couldn't you just endlessly send coins to your self?
You could endlessly send coins to yourself sure, but fees would eat up your funds, its based on addresses in the previous block converted to a hex format, a snippet of that address then used to search the previous block hash for matches, if there is a match the address receives part of the mining subsidy.  Its not very easy to have a match.  Because of this, there is additional checking the verifies the coinbase transactions including address, value, size etc further securing the blockchain and eliminating the possibility of disabling the functionality.

So how often (in blocks) would you expect there to be a match (and payout)?
If I knew that I would be a a billionaire its random... 100% you would have to know all future blockhashes and addresses make a know this.

I've seen some paid out - one of the things i need to work on is a clear flag etc to show that one has been paid

If I remember, block 4000 was such an example of it.  You will see that the coinbase has 2 addresses with the block payment split.
