Blockchain project becomes ‘one of largest social experiments in the world’

When this “truly decentralized” blockchain launched on May 7, 2020, it had not sold a single token.

A year later, Free TON still hasn’t — and won’t — TON Labs CTO Mitja Goroshevsky said on a May 3 Cointelegraph AMA.

That’s unique for a proof-of-stake blockchain, which generally relies on validators who stake a fair amount of a project’s tokens to ensure good behavior.

But then, very little is normal about the Free TON project, which arose from the ashes of Telegram messaging service’s Telegram Open Network blockchain.

In that incarnation, Telegram presold $1.7 billion worth of tokens to investors. But the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission stepped in, calling the sale an illegal securities offering, and forcing Telegram to return $1.2 billion to investors and abandon the project.

Recurring Payments (‘Subscriptions’) smart contract system

Develop smart contracts to recurring payments (‘subscriptions’) on the Free TON, both (1) for TIP-3 tokens, and (2) for TON Crystal.

Task
Implement on-chain Recurring Payments (‘Subscriptions’) smart contract system by which FreeTON users will be able to pay to unlock access to special DeBots/Smart Contracts for a certain amount of time. Users must be able to recurly pay by TON Crystal or TIP-3 token (e.q. USDT) to subscribe for DeBots/Smart Contracts and be able to cancel or pause subscription anytime. In turn, DeBots/Smart Contracts owners must be able to track subscribers to unlock DeBots/Smart Contracts usage or some of its features. Existing examples:

Debugging Free TON Smart Contracts with the ‘ft’ Multi-Account Wallet

Free TON is one of most efficient blockchains in terms of performance. We have been working with it during the last months. ‘ft’ is a tool that we developed to help manage multiple accounts. While we were developing more and more smart contracts on Free TON, we have kept extending ‘ft’ with many features to help developers of smart contracts in their daily tasks. In this article, we present a simple session with ‘ft’ and how it can be used together with TONOS SE to test a smart contract.
