i need some help here. so i need to split gp coins to 2.5 coins per tx?

Are you trying to get the best staking in?

This was what HYPERFuture had to say about staking inputs:

...
1.) Try inputs of 125 - 150. I think 50 may be too small. You will want to experiment. I think we discovered over 100 was best.
...

Yes MMH is correct. You don't need to split them to 2.5 inputs, try splitting them into 100 GP inputs, to get eh maximum of 2.5 GP per staked input.

Everyone the GP strategy document and more will be released soon. Thank you to everyone who is being a part of this in the early days.

Noob question here, but how do you split them up into 100 inputs?

I think he just means to split your addresses into having a balance of 100 GP per address.

Ah ok, so very time consuming. Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, it's a bit of a pain in the ass right now tbh.  I kinda touched on that issue on the previous page.  As you can see, the alt markets are sickly right now and the GP ecosystem is still being prepared for client development is hard to come by.  Crypto is cyclical though and alts will have their day again.  It can always be fixed down the road.  The people who bear with it now will reap the rewards down the road if GP takes off as we hope.

Good ideas thank you for the constructive feedback.

While it was not a fork, the latest version of the GP wallet we had developed did help things run even more smoothly. The code-base (apart from the 2.5 GP cap) is actually in pretty good shape, according to the team member who pushed the latest GP wallet update a few months ago.

I didn't even know there was an updated wallet, been on the original the entire time.  Good to know that someone looked over the code at least.

Like I said, I think forking the coin is a good idea down the road, but there is no rush.  Developing the ecosystem is much more important.  If GP has as bright a future as we all hope it will, raising the funds necessary to finance a fork will be trivial in 6-12 months.

In any event, there is definitely no need to fork due to inflation.  Even if every block were hitting the 2.5 GP reward cap, that's a max of 3600 GP created per day which would be just a touch over 0.3% daily inflation at the moment.  Most blocks are not hitting the reward cap, so actual daily inflation is much lower.  And of course that inflation rate will continue to fall day by day forever.  The 2.5 GP reward cap occurred totally on accident due to sloppy code, but the cryptogods took pity on GP and purely by chance it ends up hitting the sweet spot when it comes to a balance of rewarding stakers vs controlling inflation.

Yes, while a fork was deemed necessary at first, the inflation vs staking rewards is in quite a nice sweet spot right now. It seems the community agrees as well, according to the poll: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/should-online-rpg-gaming-currency-goldpieces-gp-be-forked-1178949

It is good to see a clear decision from the community, now I can focus on the strategy document, initial PR campaign, and building out the ecosystem over the coming weeks. Of course there is a possibility of forking in the future, but only if the community agrees.

Dragon Knights of Valeris is a free to play game with purchasable upgrades. You do not need to deposit or invest anything in the site. It would be appreciated but the sponsors have been kind enough to donate coins to the game for players to collect.

I voted no.  The current reward cap of 2.5 coins per block is sufficient to keep inflation in check long term and makes it highly rewarding for early adopters to begin staking even now.  But, GP still needs a fork at some point IMO.  The current cap of 2.5 coins isn't actually hard coded, it is simply the result of a bug in the shoddy code.  I have actually staked over 2.5GP at least once, I believe it was 2.7GP or around there.  It was months ago and wouldn't even know where to begin looking in the blockchain for it but it happened I swear!  Also, it is a pain because the GP client recombines your individual inputs sometimes so if you want to keep your inputs small enough to stay under the 2.5GP reward cap, you need to break your coins up into thousands of different addresses.  God only knows what other bugs could pop up down the road with this codebase.

So, it's not a emergency and GP can continue on as is for a while, but it would still be advantageous for the long term health of the coin and for increased user friendliness to fork to a clean codebase.

Sure wish they would add
SplitBlock feature to this wallet!!

Dev.: Please consider TY

He is referring to the feature that comes from HYP and XRA, presstab's coins.  I remember you saying the fork you had planned would cost 3 BTC, but I'm thinking presstab would be able to beat that price because it would be as simple as forking it to HYP codebase, then lowering the interest rate to 500% and the reward cap to 2.5GP, removing the limit on coinage, and changing block time to 1 minute.  Relatively minor changes.

If GP took that route, it is worth it to consider whether block time should be changed to 2 or 3 minutes.  1 minute block times was sort of the standard for alt-coins a year ago, but it's causing blockchains to bloat very, very quickly.  If the point of forking is for the long term health of the coin, it maybe worth it to increase block times.  But, we are then led into another debate, do we increase the reward cap to 5 or 7.5 to keep inflation rate as is, or keep the reward cap at 2.5 to lower inflation?

Basically I think a fork is worthwhile but leave it on the back burner for now and consider paying Presstab to do the fork whenever we are ready as I am thinking he will do it for a better price and his code naturally fits with GP if we want to keep the parameters of the coin as is.

Good ideas thank you for the constructive feedback.

What is the ideal input for staking this coin?

I've heard that 100-150 is a good number for inputs.

Should GP be forked? Vote here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/should-online-rpg-gaming-currency-goldpieces-gp-be-forked-1178949

No one person really owns GP (certainly not me). GP is owned by the community, so I want the community to decide on its future!

I personally do not think a fork is necessary, as the 2.5 GP staking limit, no matter the size of the input does help limit inflation, and means the coin can keep staking without hitting a hard cap. The GP ecosystem will continue to grow much faster than the 2.5 GP per block inflation.

But ultimately I want the community to decide, so start voting!

Great thanks, http://goldpieces.net/category/game-servers/ is exactly what I was looking for. (thumbs up)

Okay, thanks. I bought some gold pieces and will give the game a try. Are there some more?

Is there a list of MMORPGs or browser games where to spend the goldpieces? Google did not give me any useful information.

Dragon Knights of Valeria is an online MMORPG that accepts and pays out GoldPieces, link is https://dknight2.com

You can view all of the games at http://goldpieces.net/category/game-servers/

I'm not sure which games accept it but CS:GO pays it out.

Dragon Knights of Valeria is definitely the biggest GP supported game right now, but there will be a lot more soon!
