No it's not the only security, it's the encryption key to your secret phrase wallet file which is stored on your device.

So to access your HEAT wallet, you need either of these:

1. Secret phrase (usually 10-12 words as suggested by the client when you create an account)

OR

2. Locally stored encrypted wallet file on your device (created automatically) and PIN code.

Yes it appears to be down. Desktop wallet cant connect either.

Hopefully it means that it is about to launch or at least get an update. But it could also be a lot of less exciting stuff like ddos or some random crash.

If you deposited directly to the ICO addresses, it will be easier to claim them now. It should be possible later but you may need support for that.

If you bought via exchanges or similar services, you dont need to claim it. The exchanges will handle it for you.

I remember 0.00005 btc is the transfer amount required for ICO verification.
In electrum it should be: 0.05 mbtc, and remember to pay a reasonable transaction fee.
