Who issued the IOUs?

What is being traded is pre-release IOU coins basically. We are waiting for ICO verification to claim coins.

It looks like the HEAT coin is being traded on a few exchanges.  Are we able to claim our coins?

decentralized exchanges are a growing trend every year, but struggle with adoption because they do not get the volume unlike the centralized exchanges.

(incentive rewards)A decentralized exchange must have loyalty/incentive rewards exchange for their fees, like plutus.it or the holder of the coin/token have a POS award collecting fees to offset the trading costs.

(security)decentralize exchange has advantage having quick trade direct to a trusted wallet on the blockchain is far greater  security then holding your coins in another exchange wallet.

(privacy)decentralized exchange does not have to be KYC regulated , many people forget when buying DASH the funds deposited and withdrawn are all recorded on a server along with all your details.. So what is the point of buying a anon coin with this detail.

(proof of identity and ownership) blockstack are working on proof identity on the block-chain, this is important when people need proof of ownership and reputation when trading physical goods on the blockchain, If one can confirm a identity and one can also proof of ownership using eg. factom. A true colored coin/electronic NFC tag could represent property on the blockchain such as digital property or physical property.
A decentralized exchange with unlimited possibilities could be a meeting place for property transfer p2p or a silent group investment into a business using colored coin and smart contracts.

(business) heat ledger could be setup in reverse from tradition businesses, a retailer could have software connected to the block chain where digital fiat could be setup in a escrow gateway where shareholders/partners in the business  are payed any where in the world in heat coin at the point of sale, by using smart contracts and gateways. and where outside investor receives enough crypto currency restock the business. This could work well where a business owner has not have a lot capital. This is a true DAO where every business has DAO.

What's the latest with this coin? When will we get our ICO tokens released?

I remember when Omni coin(back then Mastercoin) tried to create its own DEX. The volume on it was terrible/ a flop & they had trouble getting people to use it.
A good legit exchange is needed. It will in turn market/advertise Heat and bring new investors/stakeholders.
The P2P exchange userbase will probably increase than if a P2P exchange is solely used.
Just my 2 cents.

-its not just the technology that is making trading possible.

you need people trading, you need a market and the technology.

if you have no market but the technology, you are not an exchange.

if you have the market, but not the technology, you could be an exchange, if you just have a messenger. So the messenger is your exchange.

conclusion: if heatledger is not building a market for its technology for the exchange, it will never work out.

the same with the idea of crowdfunding.

if you dont have good projects, which want to release their token, you are not a crowdfunding platform. you have the technology, but missing market, again.

Don't be absurd. Of course Heat needs to be listed on other exchanges. What good does a p2p exchange do if it has no volume? Heat needs to get on big exchanges, get a big marketcap and then it can MAYBE run a good p2p exchange with volume.

Well, "actually", we wouldn't need any exchanges, if the developers include the p2p trading function into the beta wallet.

In this case, the name of the exchange would be "HEATLEDGER". You could put your orders directly into your wallet.

I'm not sure, if it's planned to include the trading functions in the first step. We'll see.

But if P2P trading is delayed and to be added in Step 2 or Step 3,  an exchange like polo or bittrex would be necessary, as a workaround solution.
