I suspect someone is mining with GPU.

or just a lot of cloud virtual machines, as usually happens on new "cpu coins".

My desktop with E 3-1231 got nothing for 2 days, but another computer with F X 8300 x 3 threads got 200 coins yesterday.

Cool! That was fast!

Also everyone don't forget, we have an active Slack community at

http://slack.hodlcoin.com

Drop by to talk. The chat is mostly about our nuts and how Winter is Coming.

cool project, i am thinking of jumping on board. is this a long term project for you? What do you hope to do with this project?

That's a good question.

The way I see the crypto world evolving is as a marketplace of competing and complimentary cryptocurrencies with different properties. The ones that will do best will have stable rules, good distributions, fair launches and good recognition. I aim to make HOdlcoin one of those coins. The branding and logos are pretty lighthearted and jokey, but the concept and coding behind it is serious. This is Bitcoin with interest. It is well coded - that's why you're seeing quality people getting behind it. It has been built to last.

HODL OUT.

Thank you for reply.
You aren't promising any new ground breaking innovations, your vision for HODL sounds like a solid one.
Just don't become like iGotSpots and launch a million high interest coins. Dedicate yourself to just this and I'm sure HODL can be one of the most sought after high interest coins in crypto.
Keep up the great work and although it does not amount to much, you have my support!

I see no real benefit in a standalone miner without a pool. But a pool means botnets means hashrate skyrocketing.
Also I don't see any easy optimisation to get better hashrate, even with a custom miner.

There are no easy optimizations, sure, but when YVG released a CPU miner for Memorycoin (very similar algorithm), it was 2X or 3X more efficient, and was equal to GPU miners. YVG is a real giant of CPU optimizations and I think I can hear YVG yawning and stretching and wiping the sleep out of his eyes . . . .

G'day!
Incentive to HOdl reduces significantly after 12 months, so the market will free up. It does ensure a gradual launch though, while discouraging huge sell walls at exchanges.

I wonder if there will be any demand or will it just be people HODLing forever.

G'day!

Hodled (term deposits) and mined blocks will be "Immature", transactions will be in your "Pending" Balance.

However if your seeing an inconsistency that we are not.. please give more info.. you may want to PM one of us.. bc your screen shots will have the amount your Hodling..

Hi Sam,

Yes, I am seeing an inconsistency. Since I can't post JPG files here (counter seems to have been stuck at 14 for days) I'll post some snapshots to Slack.

So nobody asks this question again and again:

THERE IS NO GPU MINER SOFTWARE. THERE IS NO POOL MINER SOFTWARE. CANNOT USE ASIC, ONLY CPU.

EXCHANGES HAVE BEEN APPROACHED, BUT THEY ARE SLOW TO MAKE A DECISION.

If anything changes, it will be announced HERE first and the Original Post will be updated. OK?

HODL is fair, will follow.

Just a question, would mining this with a CPU 24/7 have a "drastically" higher power consumption then being idle 24/7 or would it just be a slight increase ?

While these are not the most up to date CPUs.. this may help you see the difference between idle and full load..

A single CPU full out is about the same as a 100 watt light bulb or less.

agreed, BUT as with other such things, it would probably be better if there were official offerings then not since anyone with a botnet (or skillz or btc to contract) could have a private miner and pool. Just like the cpu vs gpu miner type argument, I think its better overall if everyone has the chance at a 'level' playing field.

Hehe, thats almost as lucky as the random people that end up hitting a BTC block with "only" 1Th/s
