carVertical will collect large amounts of data, including prices from auctions and classifieds, to determine the price of a certain car. The system will also be supplied with average depreciation values of car parts, to make the calculations even more precise. VIN decoding will allow to take all the options into consideration.

It turns out, that most of information is stored in closed or private databases. That is why the company is conducting negotiations with insurance companies, on-line bulletin boards, auctions, law enforcement agencies to get data from their repository.Yes it'll be a long process to gather the information required to centralise the data in one place, which is probably one of the reasons the ICO is so long to give them time to start collating the data while revenue is coming in, although the ICO might end sooner than they though if the pace we have seen the last few continues!
