Ep 46, Connection Needs of an Autonomous Network, with Spandan Sharma
https://soundcloud.com/safecrossroads/ep-46-connection-needs-of-an

Our guest today is Spandan Sharma from MaidSafe. We go over the results of the second community testing of Crust, the automated peer-to-peer connection library being developed by MaidSafe for the SAFE Network, and available for open source use by other P2P projects as they find useful.

SAFE and Solid: the internet as it should be
https://medium.com/@pierrechevalier83/safe-and-solid-the-internet-as-it-should-be-5f9bdee42685
In his talk: “An introduction to the Solid ecosystem” last weekend at Mozilla Festival 2018, Ruben Verborgh laid out very clearly the case for Solid as a tool to give people back their choice on the Web.

The talk was very accessible and inspirational, so I thought I would try and spread the message in blog format for those who couldn’t attend.

I am a member of the SAFE Network community. In the second part of this blogpost I share my personal opinion on the synergy that I see between the Solid project and the SAFE Network project to make the internet at the service of its users.

funny how on one side some people are really negative and bashing the project
and on the other way the team is giving some updates, without commenting
what is said by bashers.

Hard to get an idea on the health of the project and commitment from the team
to deliver in a reasonable time frame

Good discussion and update is happening on https://safenetforum.org

I'm not a member of MaidSafe team.

Thanks

thanks for sharing, appreciated.

Will have a look.

On another note, all the best for the new team member presenting himself above!

Looking forward to great developments soon

Here is the latest update
https://safenetforum.org/t/safe-network-dev-update-october-18-2018/25919

Here are some of the main things to highlight this week:

The first version of the Crust Test 14 will be going offline tomorrow morning. Before releasing the next test, we’d like to work on a couple of improvements in order to increase the information returned from the test.
SAFE-Fleming 22 is our new name for Alpha 3.
Next week, @dugcampbell will be heading across to Berlin for the Web3 Summit 2 - so if you’re going, say hi!
@m3data is running a survey to gauge interest in a SAFE Network: Sydney meetup 3.
The Routing team estimates that they have tackled around a third of the kinds of malice they detected during their brainstorming.

The way things are going, a beta release in 2020 is a very optimistic speculation. Hold Maid longer for the reward and just play with blockchain for short to mid term fu.

I don’t expect anything before 2030.  Maidsafe price is at record low for a reason.  People didn’t invest in an ICO to see a working product in decades.  Anyone selling now are loosing as they purchases at higher satoshi price.  To make them feel better, they can use the US dollar as they profit measurement, and if that doesn’t show a profit, then they can still use the Zimbabwean dollar.

Man how long is this thing going to take? I still have coins lost in an old polo account that I don't even give a f@#k about anymore.

No working product for the masses.

distance itself on own website maidsafe, no road map, no anything have to navigate to "SAFENETWORK" for road map

road map there no clear deliverable as to working product.

They have had since 2006 to deliver and millions in funding.

Omni coin is being delisted from bittrex. These leaves poloniex to be the only exchange that trades omni. Is this of any concern seeing that MAID runs on OMNI?

Yeah, looks like Maidsafe will get delisted as well.  Price is reflecting that.

from what I see, the delisting is ALREADY done for MAID, unfortunatly.

This month Bittrex turned totally crazy and is jeopardizing a lot of projects
while delisting many coins related to good and developping projects.
That is a shame.

Hope MAID will stay safely listed on Polo

Haha I didn’t even realize it already happened.  Yeah I stopped using Bittrex since they blocked my account for KYC even though I never traded Fiat.  Not only does Bittrex delist coins, but they also relist them at a later date.  Metalpay is the latest example.  One way for them to make a lot of money doing insider trading.

In regards to Maidsafe I am not very optimistic it being relisted any time soon though.  Maybe in 10 or 20 years when they got a working project, if they do.  I encourage people to use Bisq as an exchange.

XOR URLs Proof of Concept
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BikfxRNARnM&feature=youtu.be
MaidSafe engineers Gabriel, Josh and Hunter describe sharing and accessing a SAFE Network file without the need to publish it with the Networks Decentralised Naming System (DNS).  They call it XOR URLs as it is based on the XOR addresses of the native SAFE Network data types.

Thanks for sharing. Very nice
