zeeman is totally right. Reliable source CoinMarketCap shows that MAID-related volume has been constantly growing since the start.

thanks for telling.... I am always amused by some other comments having only bad stuff to tell about a coin.... how it is bad compared to others... how it is just struggling...

Most of the coins projects take a lot of time to really emerge significantly... some have good time before to go down again for a long time... and finally come back.

It seems to be common behavior in crypto. The good thing to hear is about hiring 26 new people... for a crypto project, it seems really really significant to me when many project were working on solo engagement of a developper ;-)

This coin was never even really alive; it's just a token representing an unenforceable, nebulous future obligation to provide another token for software which is nothing but vaporware.

MAID will be obsolete before it gets to beta testing, just like Project Xanadu.

Zeronet.io and IPFS already do what MAID has struggled to accomplish for 10 years.

So i bought some maidsafe coins a few years ago, and i check in once in a blue moon. Last year it was alpha 1, now it's alpha 2. Seems the project is still moving along, though waaay behind schedule.

So is everyone still bullish? Or has ethereum eclipsed maidsafe? There's a lot that no other platform can currently do, though that gap has narrowed as all these new plaforms come online.

So is it stil a good investment?

So what's the next big milestone to look forward to ?

Alpha 3 is expected in only a short number of weeks after Alpha 2. It will bring us Vaults from home again. They're working on mobile Apps, uTP support (the connection protocol uTorrent uses) and Datachains. The first part of the datachains will register the connections and splits and merges of the groups. So let's say 15 Vaults are keeping up a certain address_range. And new Vaults join and leave, and even the group might split in 2 if it gets too big. That group of Vaults and the other groups that are close will store all the signatures in the Datachain for that group. so all actions that need consensus. SAFE will become 100% autonomous, so no central trackers like BitTorrent etc. That's what the Datachain (part 1) is for. Datachains part 2 will be about storing data. So a group of Vaults is responsible for a x-number of chunks. And all the hashes are chained together etc.

Lot of great stuff happening. Make sure to check the forum. You can already move some coins (not Safecoin) around. You can store a website, chat, mail, and do more things on community websites.

Rome wasn't completed in a day, but then again neither was Project Xanadu.

The first useful structures in Rome certainly didn't take 10 years and millions of dollars just to "research" decentralized foundation pouring and innovative start-from-the-roof-and-build-down techniques.

If Rome had been conceived of and attempted to be build using a top-down master-planned out-of-control-scope-creep approach like Maidsafe's, it would have never been built, much less become the center of an empire.

How many times do you need re-invent the brick before settling for something that works? Why the unending hostility for the KISS principle?

Looks like Filecoin is more like Sia and StorJ. Want to provide alternative to dropbox and google drive etc.

SAFE is about that as well, but now more focused on a dedicated browser and domain registration and websites.

This is what we'll see with Alpha 2. Download the browser, create an account en publish your own websites. After that they focus on Vaults from home again. So fully encrypted, decentralized storage network. Think of it as one big database where people store private data, public data (filesharing, websites etc.) and even chats, mail as SAFE supports Mutable Data now.
