Also I'm curious, what are you going to do if someone guesses the proper answer but doesn't provide an explanation? Will it just be ignored or will you publicly ask them "why?" or ... ?

I think we're getting too deep into the importance of primes but I'll try this guess: (26 or z)

If we place 26 in the centre square:
sum of all squares = 293 (prime)
sum of middle 3 rows = 229 (prime)
sum of middle 3 columns = 229 (prime)

Again the a² still has me bugged though, haha.

Are we sure the numerical representation of each letter is the right breakthrough? I think so but...

Is it 55?

Sum of numbers for "currency" = 107

Sum of remaining numbers = 162

Difference between the two = 55.

No, sorry.

(9+3+3) + (16+18+15) =64

(17+3+8) + (11+5+20) =64

45 + 64 = 109 (prime number)

(H == 8 )
 H2=64

H = Human

Nope.

Looks very plausible  Cheesy
In that case it could also be Hn or H' for Greek notation

New approach.

after conversion from letters to numbers, not all numbers are prime. So when I only add up the primes (17,3,19,3,23(25-2),3,11,5) you'll get 84.

Now 84 isn't prime. Next prime value is 89. Off by 5.

So the answer will be 5 because this is also a prime number.

If someone comes in now and gets the correct answer, it will be off the back of other's work. So, it's really been a team effort.

It's only fair that contributors who were first to make breakthrough steps will receive a consolation prize TBD.

The first was obviously the conversion of the symbols to characters of the English alphabet.

Of the last 9 guesses above, there was one of these breakthroughs.

There is one to go.

Can't see what I'm missing here. conversion, substract, involution, adding up, prime numbers from the front........

The answer is L. The sum of 3rd column minus 2nd column and 3rd column minus 4th column are equal (without third row). The answer should be the average of 1(2nd column 3rd row) and 23(4th column 3rd row) which is 12. Latin 12th letter is l(L). The answer is in lowercase since all other lined squares have lowercase letters. Used same valuations with BudBudderly from highiqforum.

As second guess because currency spelling is read in lined squares. The letter L symbolizes Litecoin, which is Ł.

Can it be the letter Mu (μ).

My answer is 7, though I think it's a shot in the dark.

The thing that makes me think we're not exactly on the right track though is why he'd bother putting a² if it was just going to represent 1 either way, why not just put a?

Could just be a red herring.

My answer is 7, though I think it's a shot in the dark.

The three rows and columns currently sum up to 203.
The sum of the two solved rows = 90 and 68, both numbers that are the sum of 2 successive primes.
If we place 7 in the center, we get the sum of both three rows and columns each equalling 210 (again the sum of 2 successive primes, 103+107).
Also the middle row and column then sums to 52, another sum of two successive primes (23+29).

The thing that makes me think we're not exactly on the right track though is why he'd bother putting a² if it was just going to represent 1 either way, why not just put a?

Maybe it's 34

90 , 45 + X , 68

45=90/2
X=68/2

X=34

....On the other side of the coin the only missing prime is 41. So 41 must be in the equation....

41 is not the only prime that is misscing on the front. So I think that aint it.
