Trip to China CancelledKrypton’s slack (
http://slack.krypton.rocks) has seen me frequently afk (away from keyboard) the last several days as I’ve been running personal errands in advance of my upcoming trip to Shanghai, China this weekend.
One of these errands has been to visit my doctor, for a routine checkup and also to discuss, what I thought, was a minor health issue. For the past few days, I’d felt a little “off.” Now I know why.
My doctor has identified several issues that I need to address. One, however, is quite severe; high blood pressure. A reading of 190 over 110 was followed by the comment, “legally, I’m obligated to tell you to go to the emergency room immediately.” For anyone who is unfamiliar with the dangers of high blood pressure, they include elevated risks of heart attack and stroke.
Rather than go to the emergency room, I dutifully filled the prescription to manage the blood pressure and returned home to rest, as also recommended. I’ve also be advised against traveling to China at this time. To say that I’m disappointed at not being able to go to China is an understatement, but this advice I will not ignore. In my opinion, it is simply too dangerous not to.
Ironically, greeting me at the front door when I returned home was a FedEx envelope containing my US passport, newly stamped with a ten-year, multiple-entry, good-for-sixty-days-per-visit, Chinese Visa. Sigh.
I
will be going to China in the future, but I
will not be travelling there this weekend for the International Blockchain Week conference.
Right now, I’m going to listen to my doctor’s good advice to eat right, exercise regularly (when my blood pressure is at a normal level), and get plenty of sleep.
Accordingly, I’m going to take the day off from added stress. That means I won’t be working on Krypton today. Most likely, I’ll be back online tomorrow, but if not, don’t worry for me, I may just need a few more days to feel “on” again.
