The point is that over time LTC will be also taken by bitmain and bitmain will have faster asics than those that they are selling to others Cheesy...

The rumour is that AMD has a cpu-mining farm almost read for LTC. They're using their regular cpus that just fail quality control so they can't sell them to consumers/pc-manufacturers.

1) Litecoin is about to join Bitcoin and Ethereum to become one of the three coins supported by Coinbase;
****

Reason for LTC on coinbase was rising was volume and volume jumped because of segwit hype.
Let segwit hype fade and you will be back to old volume.
If swegwit won't pass on LTC then LTC wil me same systuation like BTC where mining is controled by bitmain Smiley
Who will invest in next Chinaman mined coin.
How many Asic manufacturing belongs to bitmain ?

The point is that over time LTC will be also taken by bitmain and bitmain will have faster asics than those that they are selling to others Cheesy... like with asicboost in BTC. In LTC change can make some dedicated software or hubs since they control BTC that way then they will expand that tactic to LTC with slowing "other miners" stuff to lvl that they will buy but it will be less profitable than their.

LITECOIN NEWS (www.studiobitcoin.com)

Litecoin has a 20% drop, After a twitter post
http://www.studiobitcoin.com/2017/04/litecoin-tem-queda-de-20-apos-uma-postagem-no-twitter.html

Join the Studio Bitcoin Telegram channel and get the latest news first hand! https://t.me/studiobitcoin (@studiobitcoin)

The news about the confusion is reported here in greater depth on CCN:
https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/litecoin-price-falls-after-segwit-confusion/

where Charlie Lee gives the background details i.e. 1st hand from the only person in a position to know the full story.

The real news is that:

1) Litecoin is about to join Bitcoin and Ethereum to become one of the three coins supported by Coinbase;
2) Litecoin will soon have OMNI capability to 'merge' with Bitcoin seamlessly to produce faster and cheaper transactions for Bitcoin (which seems to have escaped most people's attention); and
3) last, but not least, Chandler Guo has joined the Litecoin Foundation.

Based on 1), 2) and 3) alone there will be an increased demand for Litecoin. There will be more transactions for Litecoin miners to process. These milestones should ensure sustained market interest.

However, when SegWit is activated, it will open up lots of interesting possibilities, including Confidential Transactions and Lightning Networks (the Litecoin and Lightning Networks teams are currently working together, behind the scenes).

In the light of 1), 2), 3), and SegWit, this paper by Litecoin creator Charlie Lee needs to be read ... and re-read:

Anyone knows whats happening to LTC? Price going down very hard, segwit statistics page nots working: http://segwit.co/ltc ....Did i miss something?

Im still trying to piece it together, but it looks like one of the mining pools who C. Lee said will be signalling SegWit has not yet started.
This has spread FUD and then people started panic selling. Just ridiculous. People have complete inablility to sit through anything and allow a few tweets to crash LTC.

Thats the problem with immature investors, shitting their pants everytime they hear anything, Segwit definitely will happen on LTC, but it will take longer than expected. BTC will not have the segwit and we will see the HF.

Anyway, thanks for update!

Miners: if you would like to support SegWit on Litecoin consider switching to a SegWit signalling pool.

The top 6 at the moment are listed here:
http://www.bitcoinisle.com/2017/04/04/top-6-litecoin-mining-pools-signaling-segwit-support/

There are others too e.g. https://ltc.suprnova.cc (see above)

I doubt that there will be a segwit now
Adoption decreased from 71% to now only 67% and seems to keep falling. Anyway, I wish holders all the best

Variance in blocks, I wouldnt worry about it.

hello every one

what do you think about lite coin price in the future ? how much is target ?

thanks you

A new ATH for all of the litecoin hodlers. No doubt number 2 on the coin marketcap being so real. in my speculation is $25.

To claim #2 again, Litecoin will have to hit about $81. At $25 we will only be at #3. Neither is a bad thing, just posting observation.

Could the secret ASICBOOST mining exploit used by Chinese miners affecting BTC stop SegWit on LTC?

SegWit has been shown to stop ASICBOOST. Chinese miners who are not signalling for SegWit might be reluctant to give up their advantage. I hope not.

Are there any LTC mining experts out there who could shine some light on this? Can ASICBOOST be used on LTC?

Nice question, i'm also interested to know the answer!

Not sure where the ASICBOOST situation is leading, but my money is on SegWit activation soon. There is too much of a demand for miners to ignore it. With the price rise I should imagine new mining ops will be switching to LTC.

SegWit and the Coinbase news are two compelling reasons to buy and hold on LTC. If you are considering LTC, this is a must read:
https://cointelegraph.com/news/segwit-hype-sees-litecoin-price-pass-10-for-first-time-since-2014

EDIT: 8th April 2017 ... I've just learnt from a reliable source that Chinese miners are not using the ASICBOOST exploit to mine Litecoin - and couldn't, even if they wanted to. This is because there are differences between Litecoin and Bitcoin e.g. Litecoin is Scrypt-based. Any ASICBOOST capability on Litecoin is a long way off - that's if it were possible. By that time, Litecoin would have well and truly incorporated SegWit, Lightning Networks etc. So, it's a level playing field for all.

I've added a pool signalling segwit as well:

https://ltc.suprnova.cc

no fees and currently 10% bonus per block

It feels like 2014 all over again Grin

Absolutely, finally hashing scrypt again Smiley

Can anyone ecplain me whats the difference between segwit and csv? Because csv has more support from miners... Thanks

CSV makes it possible to add certain demands to your transaction.

Think about stuff like multi-sig or locking funds for a certain time period.

Understood! Thanks
