Last several hours it hit around $38 USD. LTC is like other coins, tied at the hip to BTC.
market is again in bearish mood and price of litecoin is coming in my range now if it will hit 25$ then i will buy more. i never thought that again market will come this far down again in this year but its happening. well some analyst says that its will down hard this time i don't know why crypto become more risky day by day.
This is a good opportunity to buy ltc, because the altcoin market is currently in a negative trend and now the price is $46 and this is a fairly small price reduction compared to the percentage of decline that occurs in bitcoin, I think with this condition it will not take much time a long time ago for ltc to increase prices later on the market.

You are right when the price was around 46$ I have grabbed some litecoin and hold them for a future hike. In the short term, it is impossible for us to predict the prices of potential altcoins, even the price of Bitcoin is not becoming stable and this will surely affect on altcoin, so we should hold them in the long term instead of looking for small profits.

Well for whatever reason no DEV for Litecoin puts anything on this thread. Not really sure why.

I found this on the www.litecointalk.io Litecoin site. I also have copied what is in the below link here.

I also will ask the author of above why the hell they don't post on Litecointalk threads on www.bitcointalk.org

as well. Likely as in the past I will get NO reply. Seems silly they don't post on these threads as well.

Anyway, here is the link below, you MAY have to have an account on www.litecointalk.io in order to view this link.

I 'copy & pasted' the post below as well.

Beginning  Quoted below:

 Mimblewimble Progress Update Thread Development

Hi everyone!

I’m David Burkett, the developer of Grin++. I’ve been working with ecurrencyhodler, Charlie, and others for several months now to design a Mimblewimble extension block so that LTC users can have confidential transactions and more fungible money.

I spoke a bit about our progress at the LTC Conference last month, but for those who are unaware, we’ve published 2 new LTC improvement proposals (LIPs):

LIP-0002: https://github.com/litecoin-project/lips/blob/master/lip-0002.mediawiki 4
This describes extension blocks, and how they can be implemented and activated in LTC.

LIP-0003: https://github.com/litecoin-project/lips/blob/master/lip-0003.mediawiki 1
This is all about Mimblewimble on LTC.

After the conference, much has happened. The first big announcement is that the LTC Foundation has graciously decided to fund my efforts to implement the MW extension block, and to continue working on Grin++! More details about that will be announced shortly, but I want to thank you all for the opportunity.

Since that was announced, great progress has been made. On the Grin++ side, I’ve implemented payments via TOR. Mimblewimble requires interacting with the receiver to build a transaction collaboratively, so by using TOR for that interaction, we’re able to use familiar-looking addresses, a simpler set-up, and much better privacy.

Original proposal to use TOR: https://github.com/mimblewimble/grin-rfcs/pull/24 1
    Grin++ Implementation: https://github.com/GrinPlusPlus/GrinPlusPlus/pull/89/ 3

Also, I’ve performed the first ever (AFAICT) pre-broadcast Mimblewimble CoinJoin. For those familiar with Mimblewimble, you may know that at the time transactions are included in a block, they are already joined with all other transactions in that block. The Achilles heel of mimblewimble privacy though, has always been that transactions are broadcast before they’ve had a chance to be joined with other transactions. That means nodes monitoring the network can see the original input-to-output links of most transactions. Sending a transaction directly to a CoinJoin server before broadcasting is one of many different techniques we can use to combat that.

    Original coinjoin proposal: https://www.grin-forum.org/t/yo-dawg-i-heard-you-like-coinjoins/5296 1
Block with first coinjoined transactions: https://grinscan.net/block/456188

On the LTC side, I started by familiarizing myself with the existing code by completing the LTC Dev Training Session. This meant starting with the latest bitcoin source, and making all modifications necessary to get it to sync.

Dev Training Session: Litecoin Developer Training Session 1 5
My BTC fork which now fully syncs the LTC blockchain: https://github.com/DavidBurkett/bitcoin

After that, I got to work re-designing the Grin++ codebase in a way that will allow LTC to reuse Grin++ with minimal modifications. The design is beyond the scope of this update, but I’ll formally write-up the design sometime over the next few weeks and link it here.

Going forward, I will be providing monthly progress updates to keep everyone in the loop on what progress has been made. They’ll likely be much more succinct than this one, but I thought it would be good to take a few extra minutes with this first update to let everyone know who I am, where we’re at, and set some expectations for the future.

Thanks for reading, and thanks again for all of your support!

end quote.

Anyway, maybe I can get the above to actually post on this thread as well in the future. It would be a nice change to actually have monthly progress reports on

Mimblewimble with Litecoin Devs on here as well.

Myself and everyone I know is 'sitting on their hands' on buying any altcoins, even Litecoin. There will not be, IMHO, any movement or pump on Litecoin until or unless

Litecoin gets Mimblewimble protocol to work. Until then any talk of Litecoin going up in value in relation to Bitcoin is just that, talk.

IF for whatever reason this Mimblewimble protocol gets dragged out another year before being implemented then Litecoin at best will act like all other altcoins and just

mirror Bitcoin prices. Or at worst, the fact that Litecoin will have nothing to show for say a year of promises and no Mimblewimble, the price will dump by another 50% or

more. IMHO, it is 'put up or shut up' time for Litecoin to differentiate itself with Mimblewimble from Bitcoin. Without doing that, Litecoin is gonna mostly fade away.

I hope I'm wrong, but how I see it.

Litecoin soon will die, because it hasn't any reliable use. Nowadays price-drop only confirming it.

I find this hard to believe. If It didn't die when it dropped from $50 to $3 back in the day, it is not going to die, ever. I agree that its a copy/paste of btc though. Maybe they implement MW as a sidechain and try something different... I hope they do.

What is your source to predict about price of LTC could potentially drop to such a low level even it is showing mind blowing performance and big merchants already support this. I hope this will keep growing and will get a decent floor in future.

It's not a prediction if you're talking about the past Wink He was talking about the previous bear market (2014-2016) when it went from $50 to less than $3 and stayed there for two years.  The source is the historical price charts Wink
Yes, this was in reality, Litecoin was then 3 dollars. But now I also think that we have a different situation. The bottom at the price of Litecoin is in the range of 20-40 dollars.

Yes, the price of Litecoin is very low during the previous bear market, the situation of the market cannot be the same every time. Look at the price of Litecoin now is around 42.40$ which is very low compared to previous, the fluctuation is kept happening in the market and it is impossible to predict the prices.

By the by ...is Litecoin working on anything but the usual (1) keeping up with the bitcoin core updates or (2) mimblewimble?

I mean they kinda have to be having some kind of side projects on there own unrelated to the above on the drawing board right?

I mean most coins have more than a couple avenues of development. (yeah, its LTC maybe not)

anyway, just wondering (links?) I'd like for there to be more than just above

brad

I think they are focusing on adoption and partnerships.

...lol...

they have been saying that for 9 years or so now...lol...

they say that when nothing is going on...unlike other coins which actually state meaningful partnerships......the usual we are working on stuff...

nope...if mimblewimble does not do something for litecoin I'm likely out of all alts and into BTC

perhaps....miners...were the only cheerleaders for BTC/Crypto/Alts...now that complete mining capitalulation seems to be in play...perhaps the price may take years to recover

a lot of miners were trying for full HODL mode..but now real-life issues and miner capitulation and no real equipment ASIC wise worth getting ...perhaps adoption has dried up

now and the bears are in charge for a few years...

don't know...but not looking too good for any crypto

Litecoin will shoot at the moment when no one expects this. A sharp pump, the entry of fat hamsters ... Tearing the skin and repeat

Are you sure this can happen? I mean, shoot. Although I am not at all proficient in this, it seems to me that a litecoin will never be expensive. Many users speak well https://revain.org/projects/litecoin, but I have a different point of view. It seems to me that the bitcoin fork has lost its position in the market. This project does not offer something new and breakthrough. Then why is this needed?

The Litecoin MimbleWimble proposal is about Fungibility not Privacy

A recent article entitled “Breaking MimbleWimble’s privacy model” published by Ivan Bogatyy has been causing a stir as the author claims of a “new attack” that ‘traces 96% of all (MimbleWimble) sender and recipient addresses in real time’. The attack costs $60/week of AWS (Amazon Web Services) something that leads Bogatyy to conculde that: https://litecoin.com/en/news/the-litecoin-mimblewimble-proposal-is-about-fungibility-not-privacy

Sorry, fungibility means you can't track say USD bills without knowing the serial number and amount on each bill....by hand this is a .. big pain in the ass...

as far as I can tell the mimblewimble problem you could use computer/math/processing TO track the supposed mimblewimble coins thus eliminating fungibility...

something you could not do with the fungibility of cash...scanning each serial number. Indeed, the problem with mimblewimble is you could track crypto in the same manner as bitcoin.

Thus I don't get the Fungibility argrument..you need privacy for fungaiblity to work..or at least like the case of cash...very difficult to just pull individual serial numbers or

whatever out of the sky to track the currency if it is plain cash. If mimblewimble is broken, IMHO, it is no different than Bitcoin and other Altcoins for having NO real Fungibility.

Thus neither BTC or any mimblewimble coin has any fungibility. Thus right back where we started with the fungibility problem with Bitcoin and other Altcoins.

ur ltc soon 63>65>60>55$ Grin
yes as you predicted if Litecoin was will soon close to $ 55 and now it's on $ 58. the right decision is to buy under $ 55 and wait or hold. I know Litecoin is a good coin and I am sure prices will go up high in coming years 2020.
