Perhaps the lightcoin release is only practice for heavycoin the CPU/GPU coin.

We already  have a GPU coin.  It's called bitcoin.  This is a parallel CPU coin.  The two complement each other, like dollars and cents.  Why smush both into one?  One can be speculated on and has huge ups and downs, and this one should be relatively speculation free for a while.

And unlike a smooshed coin we now have two separate networks, with different potential points of failure.  I consider this to be a GOOD thing.

If i run litecoin-qt.exe then i can't run litecoind.exe & vice versa.
With litecoin-qt.exe, i cant mine solo. TO mine solo i have to run litecoind.exe.
The miner you are given doesn't have required files, keep on saying that libe is missing, this lib is missing ....
How many version or times, i have to download windows client & windows daemon.
Its seems more than 4-5 times downloaded & now dont even know which is the correct version & which i have to run.
If litecoin-qt.exe cant mine & cant run when litecoind.exe running then how to see the balance with out using getinfo.
What is the use of having a GUI with no way to mine?
Seems it has been talked much before launch & after launch a lot of mess.

Go back to using port 9332
9333 is the p2p port.

I switched to 9333 because I saw that the client was just not listening on port 9332, and was getting errors when I was trying to connec tto 9332.

Still, even running the client with gen=1 does not generate, the client is on 0% CPU.

I have had similar problems.

Everything was fine with testnet, but problems happened after widows updated.

Wonder if something with that is blocking it.

The problem for me was a corrupt conf file, downloaded from the first post (probablly unix-style newlines).

To fix, just create a fresh conf file with the values you need. coblee, please put this info in the first post or fix the conf file.

OK, resolved, finally, at 5 GMT +2  Sad Sad Sad

The problem was I download litecoin.conf form the provided by coblee, with unix-style line endings.
The client couldn't read them properly.

So ... at what block# should we have a difficulty retarget?

Diff will retarget at block 4032. It will be 4 times current diff.

check the taskmanager if you have a remaining task kill it. That happend for me, I also installed the boost library because I got an error at first. (Though I don't think that was the issue since it should be statically linked)

double check you have server=1 if it is not listening, and add an rpcport=9332 just for good measure.

Personally I am using the litecoind.exe,   but at least the gen=1 should be working for you...   longshot I guess, but are you sure you put the server=1 in a config file in the right place?

Definitely 9332.
One reason maybe you are not caught up on blocks. Make sure you have the latest code. Call getinfo and see which block you're at and compare to http://blockexplorer.sytes.net/chain/Litecoin
Also call getwork and see if your daemon is caught up and giving work to your miners.

Hey Coblee,

Can you please release a locked client on every retarget, starting 2016, then 4032 and so on?
At current difficulty, we have a lot of orphans that make the whole network loose a lot of time.
It's too easy for an attacker with even less than half the hashpower to catch up on his own branch where he gets no orphan blocks.
We need to prop up the security by locking in the retargets until the difficulty went high enough to make it unprofitable to forerun the chain.

Will do. I can only check in new source and build windows client binary. I need help from twobits for windows daemon binary. But I will try to release at every diff change. Will wait for 4032 for next release.

Hello Bitcointalk,

I'm back from the dead it appears.

Just wanted to say congrats to Coblee and I will not discuss anything related to Solidcoin in this thread.
This is the official Litecoin Thread and no reason to clutter it.

I have no LTC or have any involvement at all in the dev.

I have not mined Litecoin, yet and when I do I will so without EC2, meaning with real CPU's. I will not mine until the network has achieved diff/hash rate optimum.

Welcome back. Now tell us how much he paid you not to attack his scamchain and why you are so pro-LTC yet so anti Fairbrix. Thanks !

Hmm it's the latency I guess  Huh
The most of the network is in the US and till my work gets there the block is orphaned. crap  Sad

Maybe such a fast network isn't optimal after all...
