Does the MAC OS X version of the wallet have a config file similar to navcoin.conf? If so, what's the path?

Well, That's Crypto :-\
hey team,

question about new wallet. wallet only synced to 9 weeks and then nothing for the past 4 hours. everytime i close wallet i get the below error.

I tried deleting everthing except wallet.dat and starting again, results repeated.

hm can not open Database seems to show some file corruption. When you google that error it all points to a damaged wallet.dat file. can you try using a backup?

regards
shahim

Hey shahim, update:

I had of course made a copy of the wallet.dat before upgrading to 3.7. I tried a different backup wallet.dat and still had the same error.
Resorted to launching wallet from a cmd prompt with the -salvagewallet handle. Wallet rescanned for a couple minutes then crashed.

I relaunched wallet normally, wallet launched and balance is back as well as a transfer from polo that I have initiated before wallet went bonkers.

Thanks for your help anyways, all is good now that the balance is intact.

I do have a question: What is the difference between using "file>backup wallet" and just manually copying wallet.dat to another location?

thanks.

As promised, the OSX wallet is now available.

Nav Coin Full Node Wallet with Sync Fix

The fix which has been implemented resolves the slow syncing caused by the numerous orphaned blocks. I was able to sync 24 hours worth of transactions in about a minute. So i hope more people can now enjoy using the full node wallet.

The new version is 3.7.0 and is now available on Windows (zip), OSX (dmg) and Linux (source).

To get the new full node wallet visit our downloads page:

Nav Coin Full Node Downloads - OSX Wallet (dmg) - 3.7.0
Nav Coin Full Node Downloads - Linux Source - 3.7.0

Nav Coin Full Node Wallet with Sync Fix

Soopy has done some amazing work this week and put together a great fix for our full node wallet. One of the interesting things about working with a blockchain which has a fast block time like Nav Coin is that it is easy for two wallets to mine the same block and broadcast it. Because the block time is near to the time it takes for the confirmed block to propagate the network this happens regularly. The management of this is all handled very neatly by the source code forked from Bitcoin. One block will be declared correct and override the other on the network and the other block is considered orphaned and replaced with the block which got consensus. It is the processing of these orphaned blocks which has been causing the slow down of the syncing on the full node wallet. Because of our fast block time and high incidence of orphans, this was making syncing the full node wallet very tedious.

The fix which has been implemented resolves the slow syncing caused by the numerous orphaned blocks. I was able to sync 24 hours worth of transactions in about a minute. So i hope more people can now enjoy using the full node wallet.

The new version is 3.7.0 and is firstly available on Windows (zip) and Linux (source). We are working on the OSX zip and both the installers and hope to get them out in the next day or two.

Trojan Virus Scan

The false positive being returned by VirusTotal has been resolved in this new version of the wallet also. So we can finally put this issue to rest. As we have always stated, there is no Trojan inside the Nav Coin wallet and there never will be. Feel free to run the new version through VirusTotal for your own peace of mind.

Shahim, and how can i increase the max connections, i mean i have very good connectivity in some nodes, maybe i can increase the "maxconnections" in my configuration to allow better network/sync progress to other navcoiners... I have several nodes with 1gb-10gb
thanks

Just do not set any "maxconnections=" value inside the navcoin.conf. I have several nodes running and each have usually around 40 connections or more.

Right now it is less, because we need to wait until all people have updated to the new wallet version 3.7 ! There is no other way sadly.

It is strange because in my first wallet i haven't that "maxconnections=" and in second wallet i included the IP of the first wallet, but when i started second wallet it didn't had the connection of the first wallet, and as you said before, the second wallet only has one connection because the other nodes in navcoin.conf reached max connections, but that's not true, because i haven't "maxconnections=" on first wallet, and it hasn't firewall and it has amazing connectivity....

What you think?

I think that needs to be investigated exactly where what connections and why no more connections are being accepted. all other things we do is guessing...

Sorry I can't bring a fast fix right now! But both wallets are the same version?

Yes, both are same version, 3.7.0

Don't worry and thanks for your assistance.

This 188.165.3.6

Shahim i have a question:

I have one wallet with currently 11 active connections. I use rpccommand "getpeerinfo" and take note of each ip. and put this ips into another wallet navcoinf.conf with addnode=x.x.x.x

Then i start the second wallet and starts syncing but it only has one connection. Why?

Perhaps the nodes do not accept more conenctions right now? normally it needs some time until the wallet get's more connections. but it will find them itself when you just let it run.

Which IP is the "one connection" you have? Perhaps 185.61.148.209 ?

regards
shahim
