Not that I know of, I just do a listaccounts (or something like that), then dumpprivkey for each address tied to your wallet.

Probably goes without saying, but make a copy of your orig wallet.dat before removing it.

Otherwise I really don't know what destroyed your wallet.dat . It was after a resync it stopped after 9 weeks?

do you have a private key export? Perhaps move wallet.dat, let the wallet create a new one and import the privkey into that!

When I check your wallet address on the blockexplorer, all seems to be ok! The 9000 Nav did arrive.

Are you on the same block-count like the blockexplorer? https://chainz.cryptoid.info/nav/

Perhaps start the wallet with the option "-rescan" to rescan the complete wallet.

Hey shahim, update:

I had of course made a copy of the wallet.dat before upgrading to 3.7. I tried a different backup wallet.dat and still had the same error.
Resorted to launching wallet from a cmd prompt with the -salvagewallet handle. Wallet rescanned for a couple minutes then crashed.

I relaunched wallet normally, wallet launched and balance is back as well as a transfer from polo that I have initiated before wallet went bonkers.

Thanks for your help anyways, all is good now that the balance is intact.

I do have a question: What is the difference between using "file>backup wallet" and just manually copying wallet.dat to another location?

There is no difference. Both ways copies the wallet.dat! There is also a way to export your private key from the debug shell! Then you can import that private key to any wallet.dat again.

Now I have one connection to the network and all my coins are back so it must have worked, am I correct doing what I did?

Only problem is my network weight is about 1000 NAV off my balance in my wallet and I'm not staking just yet, which now I think is probably an old stake not matured yet. I'll wait and see.

For anyone on Ubuntu 16.04 this works fine and fast syncs well as well as has peers connected. Just makes it a bit easier copying old files and keeps blockchain up to date. I never lost coin either, was my mistake.
