Release 0.5.3 - 2018-06-06
Fixing a bug with stats readout from the newly added ethminer 0.14.0
Adding nvidiasetp0state.exe to optimize Nvidia mining

Download NicerMiner v0.5.3:

-----------

I'm looking at adding the JCE miner.
I'm having issues with it at the moment, the GUI is having problems detecting the process and killing it once the benchmark is done.
I'm almost there. the API is already working (if I kill the benchmark process manually I can start mining using it, and I see the proper hashrate in the UI)... the only think left is to make sure the process is killed successfully.

Thanks again for all the feedback.
Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you guys.

I'm assuming the issues with the lingering ethminer window is a result of the bug I just fixed (0 hashrate readout)
Please let me know if this issue persist in the latest version - I'm unable to reproduce on my environment.
Thank you. Previous issue with ethminer hashrate on UI and lingering windows now fixed.

A question, how to actually make Nicerminer to start with windows? Checking the "start with windows" won't work as as soon as you save and close the setting window, going back in you'll see the tickbox being unchecked again.

I had issues with this when i first started using NiceHash, got around it by using Windows Scheduler to launch it delayed by a few minutes on startup then wrote a small batch file to start it hidden which was also giving me grief. Maybe give scheduler a go.
Thanks, it was what I did too after giving up trying to get the auto start working. Using scheduler with 30sec delay.

Appreciate the technical input here, I'm definitely not knowledgeable with the tech stuff which I why I prefer the GUI miners like NHML and NM. The attraction with NM is that a lot of people prefer to use MPH to the NH and Coinbase.
I'm sure mobileanrachy is doing their best and can hopefully incorporate your comments into the next build as the CPU loading when idle is something I had noticed on one of my rigs as well. Try not to be so critical of people just because they're not as knowledgeable as yourself, we're all learning something here.

Pleasure Bitbomber.
Do read the relevant readme.txt files in the ..../bin and .../bin_3rdparty directories.
The info is well worth knowing/$$.
The settings are easily launched/tried by adding them to settings/devices/algorithms/Extra launch parameters.

NB:  that my ...'critical'ness was aimed squarely at Mobileanarchy who should know these things...  Smiley

All good, just glad to have more tech-minded people interested in the project  Smiley
Will go back and have another look through the readmes, lot to take in but getting my head around it all.......slowly.

Well called! Will Claymore 11 with newer algos take a long time? HTML downloads the binary files as zip? Can I change the version?

Suggestion:

Add JCEMiner as it is the fastest cryptonote miner.  Especially on older, non AES, CPUs.
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/xmr-jce-miner-cryptonightforks-now-with-gpu-3281187

ie:  Target Nicerminer at those that want to mine older hardware, as well as those who want to keep their Eth, XMR etc.
For older GF cards its a simple matter of recommending the correct driver.

I will write a guide for its optimal setup if you do.

Hi,

Regarding the default miner settings: I had no idea, as I'm not CPU mining on any of my rigs (I do a shallow test to make sure it works, but turn it off after a short while)
I'm not sure about overriding the default settings, because if might have a negative effect on other users (tweaking might work for you, but break the app for others)

One thing xmr-stak does not do is optimise for your CPU.
Might I suggest a guide on how to do so?
I might even be talked into writing one! Smiley

I also suggest you start mining your CPU:
The difference between power consumption when idle/just GPU mining and an optimally mining CPU pays for all the rig power (GPUs excepted), plus change!  The amount of change can be considerable with multi core CPUs.

And the NM zip file is bigger than NHML - it's because I ship it bundled with a CPU miner instead of downloading it on first launch. I only started doing that in the past couple of releases (you can see the history at GitHub)

Ah yes.  I notice that the nicerminer.exe file is about half the size of nicehashminerlegacy.exe, but there are quite a # of CPU related files (cpuid.exp, .iobk, .ipdb, .lib) not seen in in NHML..?

I also notice that you have left out some unnecessary files.
NB that the nvidiasetp0state files are not unnecessary.  Without them many nvidia GF cards will not run at their optimal power state and thus not get the hashrate they will on NHML.

Suggestion:
The return of DaggerSia for those who would like to mine enough Sia to be able to HDD mine it:

Can confirm that NM 1.9.0.3 doesn't show has rate for the new ethminer even though its mining in the console.
But I haven't had any issues with NeoScrypt or CNv7 in relation to CUDA. Though I'm on CUDA 9.0.176, for some reason I cant get 9.2 to install on my PC.

EDIT: updated to CUDA 9.2 (after long uninstall) and all seems to be working ok.
@astronyu where did you see that neosrypt and and cnv7 dont support CUDA?
From the benchmark log. It doesn't help to run all the benchmark again too, tried and same thing.

Yet another issue to report.

With version 0.5.2, the new ethminer seems to always start and will ignore current profitable coin. Even when the UI reporting using all GPUs to mine Equihash, ethminer console kept opened and did not shut down. The GPU ends up sort of dual mining Eth and Equihash. Restarting the console (via UI) will then mined profitable coin but when it auto switch to Eth, ethminer will again refused to shut down.

So i figured out the missing hashrate on the newer ethminer. They actually implemented an API similar to Claymore's, which made my like a tad easier.
https://github.com/ethereum-mining/ethminer/pull/253

I'll push a version tomorrow, I want to make sure it runs without any issues on my rig overnight.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

I see...
Does the benchmark for the new ethminer (ethminerLatest) finish successfully? What is your hashrate compared to the one shipped by default?
I'll take another look at the API calls ASAP, in the meantime, this is a minor visual bug, you can still use this version if you find it more stable than the previous one.
Benchmark was completed successfully. The new ethminer vs old, there was at least a little bit increase of hashrate and but I think the new ethminer is more stable.
Curious, for the new ethminer, does it follow DAG load setting from the UI?

Other feedback:
Unrelated to the ethminer above, I checked NeoScrypt and CryptoNight7 benchmark, it mentioned card does not support CUDA 9.1. (PC has CUDA 9.2 installed).
As for additional miner, maybe you could add Excavator miner?

Well... looking at the screenshot you posted, ethminer is reporting 0 hashes/second on the console, so the UI will do the same.
Maybe give it a few minutes for the DAG file to initialize on each GPU.
This has to work, as it passed benchmark, and a real hashrate was loaded successfully (otherwise the UI would have never picked/used that miner to begin with)

Now that I figured out how to add additional miners, I'm very interested in adding the best-in-class miners/versions to this application.
Any suggestions based on experience? which miner should I add next?

Unfortunately, I sold all my AMD GPUs, so it's going to be hard/impossible to add and test AMD miners, but I have a couple of Nvidia 10XX rigs.
The console actually showing 82MH/s mining eth, the screenshots only showing the first few lines after it restarted. UI doesn't show mining rate for new ethminer.

May I know if there is a script or software to notify us in case of miner crashed?
Checked my MPH stats and saw no activity, remotely logged into the pc and saw NM was not running at all.

I've never had any issues with the miner crashing, the only time its stopped was due to a power outage. Usually I check in periodically on MPH stats or MPH monitor for Android to make sure its still running.
Maybe upload a log file for mobileanarchy to have a look over?

Not sure what happened last time but I have since download and install a lightweight freeware called "Restart on crash" to take care of restarting Nicerminer if it detects the software not responding or not running.
Spoke too soon, it crashed again today.

Depending on your setup there is an option is an setting to 'run script when CUDA GPU is lost'. I've never used it but you could give that a try.
I already have it run script when CUDA GPU is lost, the PC should be restarted automatically.

You can give the newer version a try:

Release 0.5.2 - 2018-06-05
Updated to sync with NHML v1.9.0.3
Bundled ethminer 0.14.0 which provides better performance and stability for CUDA devices.
You can still use the "original" version if you like. Benchmark both, and see what works best for you.

Download NicerMiner v0.5.2:
https://github.com/odedolive/NicerMiner/raw/master/releases/NicerMiner%200.5.2.zip

The new ethminer version should provide better performance and stability over the one shipped with NHML.
Give it a try and let me know.

Cheers.

Thank you for the new update. Downloaded and replaced the previous version, running benchmark now.
As for the new ethminer, will it automatically selected or is there a setting to disable genoil's?
In my benchmark window, I can really scroll down or uncheck anything from the list.

[UPDATE]
The new ethminer started and working. Although I'd like to report that it often restarted itself (nothing in the log) and on Nicer Miner window, there are no rate stats for mining ethereum.
See screenshot below, taken after it restarted itself.
