Sadly, the fundamentals of a coin don't matter at all anymore.  The coin could be fundamentally very solid (like this one), but because it doesn't have the shock n awe promotion behind it, most investors will see 0 value of buying into it.

Coinyecoin proved that a coin can be crap, launched like crap, and smell like crap but still sell well cause everyone and their mama knows about it.

Definitely an instamine coin. 30 minutes mining on my 6770 and I have .75 ALN.

Yeah I still haven't even earned my first ALN yet with my 670. At this rate I might just pull out soon and move back to CAT or something.

There seems to be a problem with the code on github around the peers.dat file... It never creates one and just crashes. Is anyone else seeing this?

root@stratum:~/aliencoin/src# ./aliencoind
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Will this solve it?Huh

net.cpp:21:22: fatal error: miniwget.h: No such file or directory
 #include
                      ^
compilation terminated.
make: *** [obj/net.o] Error 1

cant compile any suggestions where i am wrong ?

at op can u update with linux wallet ?

From what I can tell there is a permissions issue with the github repo.. I fixed it on my box and then copied "net.cpp" from another scrypt coin wallet directory.. This is what got me going..

That got the wallet-qt running for me..

INSTAMINE!  5,000,000 USERS!  HASH RATE OF A BILLION!  GOTTA LOVE THE NEW COINS!

Yah, UFO wasn't like that. I don't get why it is having trouble attracting miners.

I have 8 cores allocated to this VM... How many does it require?

8 core is fine reinstall it ? also check this https://github.com/Siralien/Aliencoin/blob/master/aliencoin-fix.zip i think this is the fixed source from the Op

I double checked the VM and it's actually 12. I'm recompiling from the "fixed" pack. I'll see if that works. Thanks for your help.

No luck. The error in the debug.log file is:

ERROR: CAddrman::Read() : open failed
Invalid or missing peers.dat; recreating
Loaded 0 addresses from peers.dat  0ms

but it never creates a peers.dat file so I have no idea where it's putting it...
