Grats to the team involved in reviving nyancoin.

I'm in just now.

Update OP with enough info.

Thanks, CartmanSPC.  Did as you said.  Now I am being seen by the pool.  I'm getting much more 'stratum detected new block' statements between each 'yeah', but I am able to mine and be seen again.

Many thanks. Grin

Put a /0 after your address to get the lowest share diff possible at xpool.net if your trying to CPU mine and there are higher hashrate miners on there.

Is there any other pools out there other than xpool.net?  I would like to try different pools, and I cpu mine.  It's a slow way and get bumped out easily on xpool.

Hi all...didn't realize this thread was around. Hear that there were some vulnerabilities in POS but never did any research on it. I would suggest looking into AuxPOW like Dogecoin did a few months ago as a way to secure the blockchain with plenty of hash.

On a different topic I still support Nyancoin through p2pool at xpool.net

I just left the wallet running and it took a while to find other nodes but it finally did. Here is a list of nodes I am currently connected to:

71.175.81.45
188.166.47.219
91.122.100.96

Edit: I believe Nyancoin uses IRC to communicate nodes so you may want to ensure those ports are open. Don't hold me to this as I haven't checked the source.

Hi,
I've been reading up on various altcoins and stumbled on this poor thing. I've got a couple tiny VPS that I'm not doing anything with. I'm wondering how much disk space is required to mine nyancoin and what OSes are supported. If it's flexible and small, I just might be able to add a dedicated node...
Hi, thank you!

It takes about 500 MB of disk space.
All supported OS builds and sources you can find on http://nyan-coin.org/

As of lastnight I lost all connections.  I tried adding the node you offered (91.122.100.96) and still no connections.

As for changing the port, I am farily new at this so I don't really know what you mean by that.

I am currently running the NYAN wallet v1.2.0.0-unk-beta, I have been looking for the upgraded version.  From what I have read, you are working on the 2.0 version.
Dear Douglas, my wallet works very well and have 15 connections for now. I think problem in your side. May be firewall or bad config?
If you want to get some help, give us your .conf file and full log. Don't paste it here please, upload it somewhere and give link.

About port forwarding you can read this and this.

Yes, I'm working on it, but new version not ready to release for now.

P.S. compress your last post if you can, it takes a LOT of space - I tired to scroll it in my 21" monitor Grin

As of this morning, my wallet stopped syncing.  I've tried everything, including

adding the addnodes posted earlier.  These still will not allow the wallet to sync

the blocks.  Only shows 1 active connection. Sad
Is there anything I can do to get my wallet up and running?  I can mine with the

wallet but my coins will not come into it because of the syncing problem.  This has

gotten me a little frustrated.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Time by time VERY LONG blocks appear (more than hour for one block).
Check last block in your wallet (help->debug window->current number of blocks) and

compare with info from nyancha.in, little difference

it's normal.
For now my wallet in sync.
Try add this node:
Code:
addnode=91.122.100.96

As of lastnight I lost all connections.  I tried adding the node you offered

(91.122.100.96) and still no connections.

I checked the nyan block chain as suggested at nyancha.in

and my current block.  My current block is 495355 and the nyan blockchain is

at 497116.

As for changing the port, I am farily new at this so I don't really know what you

mean by that.

I am currently running the NYAN wallet v1.2.0.0-unk-beta, I have been looking for the

upgraded version.  From what I have read, you are working on the 2.0 version.

I can pool mine through the wallet though.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

VERY IMPORTANT Guys, for all who want to help and support NYAN.

Wallet version 1.2 not supported UPnP, this is a cause low count of connections.

You should forward port 33701 MANUALLY through your router/host/etc, else your node could work only in passive mode - no one node cannot connect to your, only you can connect to active (with open port) nodes.

I have opened port and I have up to 20 connected nodes! Now we have only 2 active nodes, this is a very bad.

Do it! Support NYAN network!

UPD: What is port forwarding?

Any news about new wallet, PoS etc?
Last months I was very busy by mining fiat money. For now I finally got some time to it again!
I communicated with Cryptsy team, and they assured me that they ready to accept NYAN 2.0 Smiley
I regret that day only 24 hours. Development takes a lot of time Sad

For Ubuntu you use precompiled wallet or builds it yourself

I have been using:
Code:
git clone https://github.com/nyancoin-release/nyancoin.git

and then building in Terminal there. I've been away from Linux Distros for about 15 years and have been re-teaching myself again. It's been a slow process for sure.

As far as the current state of Nyan I can confirm both good and bad news

The Good News: Nyancoin-QT is syncing with 2 connections as of 10:45am (EST) 12/23/14
The Bad News: Cryptsy Nyancoin Wallet is in maintenance mode still as of 10:45am (EST) 12/23/14

Rally the Nyans and send out a meow, the time may be nigh if we can't pull together as a community and rescue this kitty from the shelter.

A HUGE Thank You to Maxvall!
CONFIRMED WORKING NODE for Nyancoin-QT Wallet Ver 1.2 for Linux (Ubuntu 14.04) OSX (Mavericks 10.9.5) & Windows 7. I'm Currently showing 2 Active Connections on a newly synchronized wallet (took around 4.5 hrs from BLOCK 0 to Current) that has been successfully sending & receiving Nyancoin.

My Nyancoin.conf for all 3 OS's is: ...
If my Nyancoin.conf file is incorrect in anyway please let me know (this is my first *.conf file) and I could have made a mistake yet still have a synchronizing wallet.

I get close to getting Nyancoin-qt or any other Wallet-qt for that matter to a fresh install of Raspbian (Debian Wheezy) but fail on the quake/make. I have compiled all the dependencies listed in the readme files, compiled the Berkley db4.8 etc and still no luck or errors on the make for both Nyancoind and Nyancoin-QT.

Thanks again for the WORKING NODE and lets try and add some more to the list!

Thank you for feedback and interest! I'm glad to see anyone interested our poor cat. Cheesy

If you don't use wallet for solo mining you may don't run RPC server.
listen=1 and gen=0 are defaults, daemon=1 needed only for console version, not for QT, maxconnections=1024 I would like to see so many active nodes =)
So, you can simplify your conf file to only one string "addnode=". You can also add "checkblocks=100", it significantly decrease wallet startup time.

For Ubuntu you use precompiled wallet or builds it yourself?

NYANYANYAN! Cool

Code:
rpcuser=
rpcpassword=
rpcconnect=127.0.0.1
rpcallowip=*
rpcport=33700
maxconnections=1024
daemon=1
server=1
listen=1
gen=0
addnode=71.175.81.45

I would love to add more nodes to my list so if anyone else has taken the time like Maxvall has please consider contributing them to the cause. If my Nyancoin.conf file is incorrect in anyway please let me know (this is my first *.conf file) and I could have made a mistake yet still have a synchronizing wallet.

I would also like to try and add my contribution to the network buy offering a Raspberry Pi B+ (32gb class 10 Card and 1TB usb hard drive, hub etc) I have laying around to become a dedicated node.

I would prefer to run the Nyancoin Node off the Pi for the simple fact it was cheap, its going unused and it draws a minuscule amount of power. If any one has a success story and a guide they used in regards to ANY wallet-qt / full node running on a Raspberry Pi please share it! I will take any advice I can to get this node up and running and helping support a fading network.
Thanks again for the WORKING NODE and lets try and add some more to the list!
