Oyster Pearl was an ICO that didn't go so great but the dev team been active detailing how they are going to accomplish their roadmap. There are a lot of risks involved in this coin but for the reason's below, I going to hodl a little bit and see how 2018 treats it.

Oyster Pearl is a ERC20 token that utilizes Ethereums smart contracts as well as IOTA's tangle. It will be used primarily as a decentralized storage ledger. Pearl is unique in that it tackles two problems, burdensome advertisements and reliable decentralized data storage.

We all hate advertisements on websites. I can't stand visiting the webpages of the Wall Street Journal and eBaumsworld (I have diverse taste) and being asked to disable my ad-blocker because they rely on ad revenue. It's annoying but its a necessary evil, or at least it was. Enter Oyster Pearl. Websites will be able to include a single line of code in their web page's code which will use spare CPU and GPU space of their visitors for POW. The POW is two-fold. The GPU will be used for IOTA POW while the CPU will be used for a unique "oyster-hunt POW" which from my understanding, ensure all the Pearls are not instantly made available to the node holders which secures the hosted data. Effectively, the web-page will no longer have to rely on annoying advertisements to generate revenue and the web-page visitor will have a seamless web-browsing experience.

I love this project, but i dont know if i should sell half of my coins holdings for some shitcoins,
literally 90% of my net worth is PRL now"

You should diversify imo.  90% of your network into a single volatile asset is pretty crazy.  I would get down to no more than 25% of your net worth into PRL and that is pretty extreme itself.  Maybe put the other 65% into BTC and Eth.

Full disclosure:  I do not advocate for being all in on crypto.

But it depend how strong believe you have in the bright future of any project even that contain high risk but crypto comes with lot of risk. I also increasing my tokens it seems something interesting.

I have been once all in one coin, years ago. It dropped 95%. I was ruined but I didn't sell. I had to leave cryptos for a few years though, having nothing more I could put on the table. This year my coin rose back from nothingness, and it rose 1000X. Unfortunately I sold most of the coins after it had made 20X. I would be a multimillionaire if I'd hold them all. But anyway I can't complain. Learn from other people's mistakes and experiences Smiley

Been there, done that... Unpredictable but also, since there are so many projects, I was glad I used my time to check all the 30 latest projects added on ether delta during the ICO of Oyster Pearl. When I saw people trading already PRL way below the ICO-price (5000/PRL that was), I knew I had to get in and accumulate a massive amount. Now I just wait. I sold a part of it when it was still mooning but it never went down anymore  Shocked. Now I just HODL my PRL.

Only just starting to learn about oyster. So is it like sia, with a treasure hunting/mining reward included, plus with a focus on secure private storage? And they are currently on testing, expected to be finalised on 31 jan?

Take your time to check their FAQ: https://www.reddit.com/r/Oyster/comments/7n3t23/faq_oyster_read_here_first/.

Thanks yes I really should pay more attention to the faqs Smiley

I'll have a closer look through but oyster does look like it has actual new functionality - so many clone coins out there!

"if testnet works then we can reach 500 million in my opinion
 but that is speculation"

Well Testnet is actually finished ahead of schedule, and they're polishing it up for Jan. 31st release.

They have a powerful team now, with like 20 people.

Price of cryptos is not logical, and doesn't increase logically. Sooner or later though we will see the pump up to the real value. Might even have to wait until April for the working product, but it will happen.

Hail Eris!
is there any resource that explains how oyster protocol differentiates itself from the other "unofficial" mining scripts that websites seem to be running without website visitors knowing about them

Right there we have the first answer:  'without visitors knowing about them'

Visitors will know about them, and resource use will be limited.  It won't be different than doing any number of other computations.  I have a web site right now that all you to semantically analyze texts.  Well, guess what, not only does the client do a bit of the work but they give me the results which I store so they are doing work for me.  Many many many websites allow this.

http://fahwebx.stanford.edu/nacl/  <-- Go to this site.  You are now doing work to solve protein folding problems.

See those mining scripts were abusing things.  Hogging resources.  Not telling anyone.

Why are PRL prices going down? Is it due to BTC and ETH prices being down? now price 10k satoshi when I bought some time ago with the price of 18k satoshi.

Really dude?

Look above, try to read something before posting and also... the market does what the market does.

Maybe ask that question on the 1st of February when the test goes well & it still goes down.

New Update Guys!

- Testnet is finished and will be released on the 31st after some polishing.

- New team members have been added once again including former Microsoft engineers.

- Preview of the testnet is in the link.

Here you guys go: https://medium.com/oysterprotocol/oyster-pearl-team-update-3-8e29aa08aab5

It looks like the Oyster development is marching pretty fast! That's good news. I guess soon we should see this progress reflected also on the PRL price.

Marching along.

Been so busy I haven't even been doing my Bitcointalk bounties.  No idea if Descrow is even still doing it. Tongue

Are we all aware PRL has been added to Cryptopia and Coinexchange.io ?
I hadn't seen it mentioned here before. Good news. Made it easier for me to buy as i had signed up to cryptopia for Electroneum.
Until now it's not available in cryptopia or coinexchange, and I think kukoin is better than coinexchange, hoping it's available in binance soon.

It is available on Cryptopia and on CoinExchange. Here are the links: https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Exchange?market=PRL_BTC and https://www.coinexchange.io/market/PRL/BTC. The volume is much lower than on KuCoin (especially the volume on CoinExchange), but you can't say it's not available there...

Hi Dev, let's try and get this bad boy on Binance or Upbit exchange.
This project deserves a lot of volume.

That's a good news, much needed after the recent retracement of the price. Anyway, today the price has started to head up again, with a bit of luck we have formed a double bottom on the chart.
