I've built sgminer-x16s on Windows, it's completely untested because I don't have AMD hardware. Could anyone try it out and report back?

https://github.com/gradinkov/sgminer-x16s/releases/tag/gradinkov1

https://i.imgur.com/9I4g1qV.png

this is as far as i can achieve to get (with vega). had to move msvcr100.dll into the dir to get that far

edit: also note, your notes mention getting vc-x86, but using the x86 version of msvcr100.dll makes it fail, needed the x64 version : https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13523
and the 2010 link supplied is a secure link (needs log in)

That doesn't make any sense, all DLLs and exes are 32 bit. Just inspected them all manually.

Anyhow, tried to build with older ADL SDK, you could give it  a go:

Hi i tried it using sgminer-x16r all what i had to do is to replace the kernel and it worked well without any problem so is the hashrate amount correct?!

Please explain exactly what you did, i've downloaded the file and extracted it and I have a wallet, what's next?

A couple of points,

I kind of understand why people are complaining of a possible pre-mine or a lack of proper announcement, however, what do you think it happened when Bitcoin or Ethereum were launched? Would you rather have the [ICO] tag for you to pay attention? C'mon, people still mine Bitcoin and Ethereum and other coins that had some kind of pre-mine or bad announcements... I'm mining x16s because this protocol is more efficient and impact less the power supplies and cards.

Also, why do people complain about the efficiency is done in another project and not the same x16r? People complaining about this forget how open source how really works, based on your ideas, basically Ubuntu should have never existed because they should have improve Debian, or more over, Mint or Elementary OS should not exist because they come from Ubuntu... One thing is that you don't like competition and that x16r might get impacted by the launch of x16s, and another is that x16s guys did something wrong...

I have no problems with x16s, I'm mining it and hope everything goes well with the project.

My opinion "Does not promise anything new.  copy paste project. (copy x16r algo and paste del random write shuffle it is new algo x16s )  It's a useless project that tries to take advantage of ravencoin's popularity."

amen brother.. a16s seems to be a good smart improvement of x16r, so RVN devs can easily adopt it into RVN and continue on theirs roadmap. PGN is proof of concept only, not real coin at all. RVN has community and skilled fulltime devs, PGN has one student, the smart one but still one student without experiences with leading big projects, or company in general. So thanks to x16s, DEvs can consider merge them into RVN, but that's all

Depends on what they do next. Super early days but I guess it's a trade off. If you mine a coin early at lower difficulty and the project comes good, then who knows.

I was having trouble getting the wallet to Sync as well. Go to folder explorer %appdata% Find pigeon folder & create a pigeon.conf file & add these Nodes =

The lack of a fair launch is troubling.  5 friends from discord getting together on a channel that no one has any way of finding and calling it "public" does not make a fair launch.

Maybe someone can make a x16s fork called "Hawkcoin", make an ANN FIRST, NOT LAST and set a 48-hour countdown to launch?

Edit: you gotta love this gem from the ANN:

Quote
On day five, I asked our group of twelve to start onboarding more miners...

Admits that for 5 days, no attempt was made to grow beyond 12 people.  Please, please read that again: TWELVE PEOPLE WERE THE ONLY ONES MINING FOR 5 DAYS.   These 12 are going to get rich from your buys.

Yup which = premined.

Have to shared your proposal of this kind of change in algorithm with others before going for fork ? For me RVN and PGN both will be opportunity which will be showing more potential I will go for as investor but still remain question on its place. Instead of going for fork couldn't be more better to work on the original idea to improve and fix the flaws you saw there ?

I think supernova might be a scamming pool.
I was accidentally present when my rig found a PGN block and decided to look up my name on the suprnova pool just to see my name in the block finders tab, but surprise surprise it never showed my name or the block # as mined.
Block found:

Suprnova not announcing:

You can't really rely on the block found messages in the miners as they simply compare diff of the share vs network diff, there are still lots of other factors necessary that the share actually becomes a valid block. just search for the pools payout address on the block explorer and you see all blocks found by the pool. also just check for those messages and you'll notice you have them quite often Smiley

Ah my bad, I thought it was reliable. I forgot shares I send back to the pool as a solution aren't actually the results network would accept as valid.

Nah, unfortunately not.. Those miners are doing their best but the block detection and actualy also the stale share detection is relatively unreiable (running with --submit-stale-shares)..

After all, just make sure your payouts are on par with the calculator +- 10% after 24h or something and you can tell if the pool is ok or not Smiley

After reading the history and reasons why it was brought into existence it all sounds interesting. This is first time interaction with this separate project form Ravencoin so need time to start reading everything in details. That introductory material is essential but further understanding comes from studying the business model.
