Most master nodes are a cash grab now, is this project alive and kicking?

I don't know the devs, but since they are releasing code, I am rather positive. You may want to hold  off buying and check back in July when they should have their desktop client for the hosting service ready: https://apollon.one/ -> timeline

Hello all,

It's been a busy week as a few of you guys probably noticed. We were working really hard on our updated wallet and it's finally done.
The new wallet version should, amongst other improvements, stabilize the masternode payout frequency that a lot of you inquired about.

The update will be mandatory by block 155000 (~2 days from now). It is very important that we have a majority of updated nodes in the network so please take a moment to update your nodes and wallets as soon as you get the chance.

The changes include:
- fixed some potential exploits a lot of other coins were suffering from as well
- removed darksend features from the QT-wallet
- removed inoperable remove/delete buttons from masternode tab
- updated reward structure to address hyper-inflation (more news tomorrow)

Instructions:

QT Wallets - Windows/Mac/Linux:
Stop your wallet and replace the Apollon-qt executable with the newer version
Win:
Linux: https://github.com/apollondeveloper/ApollonCoin/releases/download/1.0.5/Apollon-qt.tar.gz
Mac: https://github.com/apollondeveloper/ApollonCoin/releases/download/1.0.5/Apollon-Qt-mac.dmg

Ubuntu:
if you installed your masternode with the Beginners/Experts guide from our FAQ or if you used Zoldur's script to install your node:

systemctl stop Apollon
rm Apollond.tar.gz >/dev/null 2>&1
wget https://github.com/apollondeveloper/ApollonCoin/releases/download/1.0.5/Apollond.tar.gz
tar xvzf Apollond.tar.gz
cp Apollond /usr/local/bin
systemctl start Apollon

If you installed the node manually:

cd into the folder your Apollond is stored
./Apollond stop
sleep 2
rm Apollond
wget https://github.com/apollondeveloper/ApollonCoin/releases/download/1.0.5/Apollond.tar.gz
tar xvzf Apollond.tar.gz
./Apollond -daemon
sleep 2
./Apollond getinfo

why cryptobridge does not work ?

After wallet update on my linux VPS I have this error trying to send some coins from wallet:

error: {"code":-4,"message":"Error: The transaction was rejected! This might happen if some of the coins in your wallet were already spent, such as if you used a copy of wallet.dat and coins were spent in the copy but not marked as spent here."}

Could someone please help me?? ;(  Huh

I used this commands:
./Apollond stop
sleep 2
rm Apollond
wget https://github.com/apollondeveloper/ApollonCoin/releases/download/1.0.5/Apollond.tar.gz
tar xvzf Apollond.tar.gz
./Apollond -daemon
sleep 2
./Apollond getinfo

They just shared on discord that the reward structure will change at block 160,000 to stop the inflation:
Quote
@everyone Rewards Structure Announcement

The rewards structure has been updated to address the issue of hyper-inflation.

Why did we do it like this in the first place?  When we first put the specs together, we did not foresee the problem of hyperinflation.  This problem was later identified by community members and we launched an investigation internally to research the problem.  We discovered that if we had continued with the rewards structure in place that we would have reached our projected max coin supply in the next 6 months.  This is obviously not a sustainable distribution of the coin and it would have caused a massive dumping of the coin onto the market.  In order to protect the current and future coin holders value, we have adjusted the coin rewards structure to distribute the coins over a longer period of time to address the problem of hyperinflation.  Wth the new structure, the coins will be distributed over the next 16 years.  We accomplished this by increasing the block time from 53 seconds to 90 seconds and have reduced the rewards from 400 to 320, starting from block 160k.  What this will accomplish is a slower but more sustainable distribution of rewards which will prevent hyperinflation and thus protect the price of the coin long term.

We will continue to monitor the coin structure and if there are any problems in the future, we may have to make future changes, but we do not foresee any at this time.  You can view the updated coin specifications at https://apollon.one#spec.

We’re appreciate your support for Apollon and XAP and we thank-you for your understanding during this transition.

Thank-you, The Apollon Team

Just updated. From the description I take it we don't have to update the controlling wallet? Just the daemon, right?

So if there are new binaries, just wondering if the update process for those 40 nodes would take more than 30 mins?

Can I stake this coin in my wallet and what is the minimum for the stake

Yes you have to leave the wallet unlocked for staking if it's encrypted, the is no minimum but the more you have the better, you can check your network weight but hovering over the green staking icon.

What makes your project different between other similar projects? Smiley

Are you talking about GIN? What other similar projects do you know? Apollon will do more than GIN does and has a established large community, about 2000 nodes running, which is one of the highest number of MN coins. The devs are dedicated to the project and creating the company structure now. I have yet to see a more committed team than this one. Have a read of the whitepaper and come back.

“Apollon was the light at the end of the tunnel!”  I had the great fortune of speaking to Saâd Khafif, CEO of Stipend for 30 minutes to talk about Stipend and what being on the Apollon platform means for his business.  We hope you enjoy the interview and we’d love your feedback!  https://youtu.be/4ynFWzIxg0M

One of our community members (and probably biggest holders of XAP), @Imperator69, released a fantastic Youtube video of him setting up 40 nodes in 30 minutes using the NodeBuilder beta!!! Very impressive stuff, check it out!  https://youtu.be/xkckjFBoWSI

Here's one that should not be expired:
https://discord.gg/89pC4t5

Don't know why they keep expiring though. Excited about this project the most by the way, it should be on CMC for a long time ago but CMC keep inventing excuses for not doing it.
