i do really love PPC Smiley but WHY is there no QT GUI for linux?
has somebody compiled this thing? i would give away some coins for this! lets say 1000 PPC?

I have it running on my PC (KDE) as I write this. Looks good too.

Appart from reading the source is there any document that explain distribution ?

How many PPC per block ? How many block per Hours expected ?, How many block per rediff ? Halvings, ?

I'm trying to figure out ROI of POS but can't even find the details for POW.

Shouldn't that be in the ppc-paper.pdf ?

Expected Annual ROI demnominated in USD = 1%  +  expected % appreciation vis a vis USD

Expected appreciation could be positive or negative who knows.
There is an additional term in the equation. This is a linear approximation. It should be very accurate though.

That is odd. I read the paper and it answered all of those questions.

v0.2.2 has been released. This release has made some improvements to the qt gui for stake transactions. Although official gui builds are not yet supported, those users who build qt gui themselves should find the new version much more usable.
What's so wrong with providing a GUI for PPC ?

what is the minimum resolution of "a coin with a timestamp which generates stakes" ?

for example: i have 10 PPC which i got with one transaction
then i spend 3.5 PPC
then i get 2.5 PPC
now i have 9 PPC in my wallet

do the 30 days counts from the 6.5 PPC or 6 PPC (one whole coin - one timestamp?)
and the new 2.5 PPC have a different age?

read up on the topic of "unspent outputs". The granularity for ppcoin stake is based on the number of distinct unspent outputs you have available. As far as I understand that is also the reason why ppcoin splits each input stake transaction into two outputs: it increases the number of unspent outputs available for POS and thus increases the sampling rate.

The 2.5 ppc should be a separate coin. In general you shouldn't need to worry too much about it. Stake is generated automatically.

There is no minimum resolution, the smaller the coin, the longer it may take to generate a stake.

I was able to generate two stake blocks, does that mean I need to wait 30 days all over for a new set of POS blocks?
yes
@Sunny King, will you confirm as well?

If those are your only coins yes you need to wait again for more than 30 days to generate stake. The 30 day requirement applies to the age of the coin, if you just generated a stake with the coin, your coin is 'refreshed' and its age is counted from 0 again. However your other coins may have a different age and may still generate stakes sooner.

I asked this a while back, but I cannot seem to find the post. So my tx of 1916 unspent output is now over 31 days. I assume I am not eligible for POS, but how often does my client try to generate one, and what are the criteria of whether I generate one or not?

And once a POS block is generated, the stake that was used is withheld for 520 blocks, but for that time, will it generate more POS, or must I wait for the 520 blocks for the client to try again?

using inputs as POS resets the clock for their coinage. The minimum coinage for POS is 30days*coinvalue. The age is determined by the time the corresponding unspent output was generated, not when the coins are available to be spend.

The only worthwhile alternate coin is PPCoin.

Unless there is Win install available, it's going nowhere. None of 20+ miners I know of, including myself, will ever bother with compiling.

There is.

Unless it can be easily found, it's like it does not exist. If you think that going to ppcoin.org > click download icon > open 0.2.2 folder
is easy, you are dead wrong. Installation file must be available on ppcoin.org, main page, "not even a monkey can miss it". Seriously.

It's general problem of developers and other hi-spec IT people - you are completely missing the perspective of average computer user.
On the other hand, I know it perfectly, since I use to deal with such users on a daily basis via computer shops and "for noobs" courses.
I'll tell you the truth - average guy out there never ever heard of sourceforge.net. If you'll make him go there and mess with folders, it
very likely he'll become suspicious and forget the deal the next second.

and even if there wasn't, is compiling such a difficult task?

It makes no difference if it's easy or not - it's extra step for which I and all people I know of simply don't give a shit. If you want me
and those people, which represent majority of people on this planet, start using your application, the minimum requirement is to have
Win install for it. If you're offering non-critical product, you either go down to mediocre level, or you are ignored. It's simple as that.

This was posted in a different thread but I think it's more appropriate to reply here.

The complaints as to ppcoin's user-unfriendliness are valid. The reason that I haven't focused on this is because that I feel ppcoin project is still at early stage there are a lot of core issues to address first. So it is currently targeted towards technically proficient users as they usually have better ability to judge risks in the project as well.

Qt build support will eventually be added (some time next year) as the project progresses.

edited my post

and who is the more MOST annoying?
Two error in 9 words,

Do you see the number of block at the bottom of your client ? it's 207985 x 50 = 10 399 250 BTC

Why did you felt a need to post that meaningless number here ?

Can't you keep your every thoughts for yourself ?

Please mods delete everything past SunnyKing post.

I agree that aggressive deletion of pointless, one-phrase responses would be a very good idea.
