I invested in Peercoin years ago and cashed out when the price spiked back in June.  Kind of missing having Peercoin in my portfolio now and it was my first major (for me) investment and I did quite well out of it.  Think it's a good time to buy some more!

PeerAssets status update...

https://talk.peercoin.net/t/september-3rd-peerassets-status-report/5860

Not that I know - I follow Peercointalk announcements regularly.

However, that does not mean at all that version 0.6 is dead, on Github there are regularly commits. If I'm right, then the development branch of 0.6 is this one: https://github.com/peercoin/peercoin/tree/0.6-hrobeers

The last commit was 15 days ago, the master branch was updated 24 days ago. Maybe they're testing now.

Yes, we are in heavy testing right now. This is the first release Peercoin will have with an expanded development team and not just Sunny King, so we want to make sure everything works correctly like expected. We'll be releasing something shortly to give the community some insight into what's going on.

Sodium hypochlorite, acetone, ethanol
Peercoin introduced PoS
it is a hybrid PoS/PoW, PoW only for distribution

A short remark regarding smart contracts: If I have understood it the right way, then Peercoin's smart-contract-like features via PeerAssets will not be turing complete (like Ethereum's smart contract platform). But turing complete smart contracts have still to prove that they are really useful. So that is not necessarily a "problem" if turing-completeness is lacking, if major use cases (like dividends) can be implemented in another way.

From what I've understand from talking to the developers, you are correct. Turing complete has too wide of an attack space, which we don't want for Peercoin.

"Indicium is a financially driven token-issuance DAC built using PeerAssets, hosted on the Peercoin blockchain. It will form algorithmically chosen indices and baskets of cryptocurrencies and issue assets corresponding to the value of these baskets. Peercoin dividends and voting rights will be given to Indicium (IND) holders as a representation of ownership in the DAC. A federated approach will be taken, where a group of founders or a board of directors will perform managerial duties to facilitate operation."

ok, I guess i should shut my mouth. Interesting.
