so x11 has no possible advantages over qrk?

also this bullshit it only uses half the resources is crap? since it just shows that the miner has not optimised to the max potential of the card, and that the rumours that some people have far far more tuned miners for x11 whilst everyone else just runs it on super slow could be true?

Quark algo will not be the future cause it's not good on GPU in comparison to CPU. My bet is now on darkcoin algo, cause 11 hashing algo will make it ASIC resistant for a long long time, yet it's very fast on GPU. Then there's fudge also.

There's HUGE profit to me made off these new algo coin, since there'll be replacing scrypt coins. Scrypt coin value will slowly fall down as the new coins overtake.

I disagree

1) Speeds hashing Quark or X11 on a GPU are pretty much identical from what I have seen using smelter for Quark since its release and sph-miner for X11 and Quark since its release.  Quark minimally slower vs X11 with sph-miner, likely since it is more complicated.  Since Qaurk hashing speed of smelter is greater than that of sph-miner, it is likely the quark algo of sph-miner could be further optimized, even further minimizing any speed difference.

2)X11 is less asic resistant than Quark.  More rounds of hashing don't make it more asic resistant.  The 11 rounds of X11 are linear and unchanging, pretty easy to make an asic..  Quark has random rounds that adds complexity and make it more asic resistant.  realisticly either one can be 'asic'ed' if there was enough incentive.

Only way X11 would win against Quark algo is if marketing of X11 better than marketing of Quark algo.  On their own technical merit, Quark wins hands down.

can others with technical knowledge confirm this (not saying hilux does not have technical knowledge but just good to hear a few more opinions before i smash the bullshit x11 hype) ?

the main hype around drk and a couple of other coins is the x11 algo............if this x11 hype is all bullshit lets crush that down right now before it gets out of hand.

However we have to be rock sure it is not superior to the QRK algo in anyways.

Any hardcore coders here to show the merits of qrk above x11

what are the pros and cons of each algo?

X11 is overhyped and overrated, also read this comparison

Darkcoin in terms of hashing functions it is a combination of Quark's 6 hashing functions and Qubit-coin's 5 hashing functions, so in total Darkcoin has 11. Five of Quark's hashing functions (Blake, Grøstl, JH, Keccak and Skein) were the finalists of the NIST competition https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NIST_hash_function_competition

Quark is using 9 rounds of hashing: while using 6 rounds from Blake, Blue Midnight Wish, Grøstl, JH, Keccak and Skein it adds 3 more rounds of hashing randomly: so the computer doesn't know whether it will be Keccak or Grøstl or Blake. And that's one of the uniqiue beauties of Quark. Unfortunately, Darkcoin or Qubitcoin don't do that: the computer remains certain about which hashing function will be used.

Another advantage of Quark might be, Darkcoin's block generation time is 2.5minutes (150seconds), while Quark is 30 seconds. Which means that Quarks algorithm with an element of randomness (unpredictability) will have to be cracked in 30 seconds to create a double-spend fork, while for Darkcoin this window of opportunity for the attacker is 5 timeslonger: 150 seconds with no element of randomness. If you take all these factors into account, Quark is still the most secure - it's not only about the number of hashing functions."

X11 is not at all ASIC Resistant.

From a pool op sight of things, X11 is much easier to integrate than for Quark was at its time. Quark's algo, and Sif(coin), the algo quark based on, look like someone though about what he's doing while X11 is just a simple daisy chaining of some algo's used from other coins, all findable in the sph lib. The sph lib is a library of different crypto algo's.

So it looks like with X11 someone just sat there, looked at the sph lib which has some algo's written in, rolled the dice 11 times and used the algo which was closest to the number Smiley

If you want to, i can start a new algo right away, also based on sph lib, let's call it F4 for example.. I'll add 4 random algo's and throw in a Coin, a Python Library and a stratum daemon Smiley

I suggest the devs take inflation point into marketing.

WARNING -- Quark, Primecoin, Protshares prices will surge after Scrypt ASIC is out.

There may be a little bump in SHA256 coins cause now they're in the same league.

So will asic do scrypt coins harm, couldnt it also go like btc did.   In confused if its good or bad for them, gpu miners sure are squeezed.

I read gridseed mining is already widely available, so we are just talking faster and faster speeds for less elec I guess.

BTC has a special position in the market -- it's the 1st one and major investors only know this one. They dont know the altcoin market yet.

Besides almost whole of altcoin volume is derived from BTC holders, not fiat currency.

As a proof, try searching for SHA256 coins in top market cap coins. We have namecoin, zetacoin, devcoin... there are hardly any.

Actually there's a correction in my prediction -- Quark algo will not be the future cause it's not good on GPU in comparison to CPU. My bet is now on darkcoin algo, cause 11 hashing algo will make it ASIC resistant for a long long time, yet it's very fast on GPU. Then there's fudge also.

How does a multipool work exactly? How does it sell the mined coins for quark?

Has to be routed through an exchange.

We've got a server set up, a domain purchased and have a developer working on it guys!

Vic

This is really good news!

I see this as an evolution of the alt-coins, coins with community, infrastructure and funding, will develop their own multipool that pays out in their coin.  This will slowly kill off the laggers and slow to adapt coins.

An ideal situation would be to have all your algos covered SHA256, scrypt, jane, N, X11 Smiley

+1 we need someone experienced in  having pools ready to go on launch of new coins....the multipool needs to have as many coins as possible. Experienced trader is really needed with it too.

Great news.... Smiley  even better if qrk had it's own exchange with all markets to qrk.  Both those things could be ROI investments too.

Yeah I agree on the exchange - I personally don't have the expertise for this but would contribute towards it if someone else took the initiative. The problem with exchanges obviously is security...

+1 if this project was managed by di or someone very well known i'm sure lots would donate for a % of the fees etc.
