Qtum QIP # 26 Reduced Block Spacing

This blog reviews QIP-26 which proposes reducing the spacing between blocks. After a review of how GitHub works for code and feature updates, we take a close look at the proposed change and elaborate on the more developer-focused language in the QIP.

Qtum Improvement Proposal 26 suggests reducing the block spacing on the Qtum blockchain, from an average of 128 seconds to an average of 16 seconds. The QIP reviews the motivation, parameters, and issues for reducing the block spacing.

I am also getting same error of Video is Private. and by the picture dev posted above I can see the video quality is miserable. maybe that's the reason they made it private. I wanted to see how was Korea's Blockchain Week of 2020. anyway. hopefully devs will recreate the video and post the new link. I'll be following this thread from now onwards to see new updates and announcements.

I apologize, the video will be released in the near future. There will be a new post made when it is available.

What about stablecoin launched on Qtum? I heard theat they are going to launch stablecoin on Qtum blockchain. How is this progress going? And when will be implemented privacy in their blockchain?

Where did you hear this about Qtum launching a stable coin? As for Privacy, we are working on the Phantom Protocol, privacy on the smart contract layer. You can read about it here.

Qtum Improvement Proposal # 26 Reduce Block Spacing

This Qtum Improvement Proposal (QIP) describes changes in blockchain parameters and logic to reduce target block spacing (the average spacing between blocks).

From launch, Qtum has used a target block spacing (a configuration parameter) of 128 seconds. Target and difficulty are adjusted for every block to maintain the average 128 seconds block spacing, with considerable variance due to the randomness needed for decentralized consensus.

This proposal would change parameters and perhaps other logic, to reduce the average block spacing to 16 seconds if there are good results after testing/tuning, or perhaps 32 seconds. The consensus algorithm currently evaluates every UTXO at 16-second intervals, targeting a solution (publishing a block) after 8 intervals, or 128 seconds. A block could be published after the first interval (in 16 seconds) or occasionally, long after the target of 8 intervals.

New block headers and new blocks can be proposed continuously on the network, but consensus logic validates with a 16-second granularity, meaning blocks are validated and time-stamped with 16-second granularity according to the interval spacing.

You can read more about it here: https://github.com/qtumproject/qips/issues/26

Delegating Addresses in Qtum: FAQs

After a month of the testnet Stake-A-Thon and a month of the mainnet Stake-A-Thon we got a lot of community questions about the details of delegating addresses for offline staking, picking a super staker, splitting UTXOs, etc.

Qtum Updates for September

The month of September continued with Qtum’s Stake-A-Thon and the Qtum DeFi Grant Program! If you haven’t heard about the DeFi grant program, Qtum has put up to 5 million dollars for the development of DeFi projects on the Qtum blockchain, and we’ve received a nice array of applications already. So, why is Qtum a great choice for DeFi?

Qtum users can enjoy the benefits of high TPS and low transaction fees. Qtum blockchain also offers more scalability by having the capability of changing parameters of the blockchain without the need for a hard fork. If you have an awesome development team, or you’re a one-person show that wants to build something transformative, check out the link below and bring your best DeFi solution to Qtum.

What does it means  “offline staking”? And which type of DEFI do u have? In fact Staking is not a DEFI in that sense which market means nowdays. Do u have lending, borrowing, farming etc.?

Here is a great blog about the Offline Staking Protocol

Here is the actual Github documentation on the Offline Staking Protocol

As for DeFi, Qtum has launched a program to attract defi projects onto the platform

One of the few ICO projects developed well.
You can see that I am a really well-made team. They deserve to be in the top 3.
Thanks for your hard work.

most of ICO dead after they raise money.

That's because this ICO was secretly a premine so they just sold the free coins they got on the investors heads and continue to do so. Most ICOs are like this, they just say they funded X but really just gave themselves the coins, partner with exchanges, wash trade and sell on investors. Thats why the price never really goes up because logically there is no reason for it to keep hitting new lows unless someone got a free ride. Similar to how a thief will sell BTC at any price (why should they care, they didn't pay for it) so does ICO fraud do similar things. Even with development, from an investment standpoint I would never recommend anyone gets behind someone who has no problem backstabbing their own investors.

Just sayin...  Roll Eyes

A few questions...

Is this a new wallet?

If this is a new wallet with zero balance then you do not need to do anything except make sure that you have properly backed your wallet up. More details for of securing your wallet can be found here docs.qtum.org

If it is not a new wallet and you updated the wallet to v.0.19.1 after October 28th, then please read this article https://blog.qtum.org/you-missed-the-hard-fork-now-what-996bab6639de

Also, here is the link for the Qtum Stake-A-Thon https://stake-a-thon.qtum.org/en/pool-delegation

If you are just looking for a list of superstakers, you can look here https://stake-a-thon.qtum.org/en/super-staker/list

If you are looking for pool delegation list, you can look here https://stake-a-thon.qtum.org/en/pool-delegation

Thanks for all the info.
I have a new wallet with the funds on it.
I ran into issues with offline stake in testnet but now it's been easier for me.
Now I already have all my coins delegated for offline stake.
Thanks a lot again.
