It's not easy. At current diff I'm not mining anymore. Unless the diff drops to below 500 it's really not worth it to mine. There are more profitable scrypt coins to mine right now ;-)
Still buying Root though =D
EDIT: @Bitsta - Before I stopped mining I switched my rig from the official pool to Supranova and started getting more reasonable payouts. I think I'm still owed for quite a few shares from the official pool..

But only 160K of that has been mined by actual miners (and the first 60K or so got virtually insta-mined by solo miners/ the very first few on the pool), 1.6 million was in the genesis block for the IPO

Dumping 4.5 bitcoin's worth on the exchange in one go was pretty stupid, but the price will rebound, an awful lot of the trading which you're seeing on bittrex is automatic ping-pong trading, that's why you keep seeing weird amounts or multiples of weird amount that keep fighting to get to the top of the board. I suspect a few people are ping-ponging with 1000+ rootcoins
