Also, no go on PC reboot. New wallet upgrade still  loses all previous wallets data.

Back on old version, but my coins are there.

THX

Smiley That is a big relief. I was gonna cry if I caused you to lose your coins.
Ya no sweat, I really appreciate your help Smiley I just copied wallet address from my storage wallet (via status page lol) and am getting ready to try and send coins to it now... will let ya know  Wink

You do not need to use the status page. You can just select your address and then press ctrl+c to copy the address in windows. (then ctrl+v to paste)

To EVERYONE updating their wallet.  This is not like most coins, it is obviously new code and your wallet DOES NOT save to the roaming directory.  Your wallet file is located in a sub-directory of the folder you installed Sia to.  I found it in C:\siacoin\win64\resources\sia\wallet         SO that is the wallet you need to back up and that is where you need to put the backup in the new client to get your same addresses.

Ok, I am going to walk it all back and try all of the above.
THX  Wink

Will report back.

I know where the wallet file is, but copying it into the newer version wallet folder DOES NOT WORK. That is what many of us are complaining about. My coins are trapped in v3.2, which is not functioning properly so I cannot send the coins to the newer version that way either.

Always guess we could type in each and every little character in address and hope we don't get a typo lol

What are we missing here?

My coins show in the old version too, but the wallet isn't functional, so I cannot send them to the newer version.   Huh

I thought about the same. To push Sia and its visibility into the community we need to bring it to an exchange.

really gotta get sia onto exchanges

anyone tryed to request sia yet?

OK, back to other question, how do I send coins from one wallet to another if I cant copy the receiving wallets address?  Huh

You should be able to get the wallet address from http://localhost:9980/wallet/status

Copy function works from there...
lol, so your saying copy and paste it from that status page and go from there? maybe that's he only way for now? you would think I could copy it as in any other normal wallet and then back up address to flash drive for receiving coins.

Maybe they will work on that too, ok good idea I will try that as I had not thought of that Smiley

THX!

Lol, yeah not the ideal way. I know they are planning on adding more functionality soon. Beta gonna be beta.

Hey dumb question lol, when I want to upgrade to latest wallet version, do I simply install from directory and will it simply up date relevant wallet files and preserve all coins, addresses and uploaded files? or is there more to do such as a backup and if so what is the best way to back up all wallet data before wallet version upgrade? I have ideas but not sure 100%

THX

Maybe I missed that part  Smiley

I saved a copy the entire UI folder from my roaming directory and saved a copy of the current wallet, both saved off of my main HDD just to be safe. But simply opening the new wallet worked just fine, all coins preserved and i immediately was synced up.
Follow up: Well that sucks, did the wallet upgrade and now coins and previous addresses are gone???

SO the wallet upgrades will wipe out coins in old version AND probably loose and unconfirmed payouts from mining since it created new address......... this ain't gonna cut it! lol

I guess I am thinking I will try removing newer upgraded UI from roaming and stick back in the old one I backed up and see what it does then?

Let ya know  Huh

Huh?? No. I had no issue. I left the old UI in the roaming folder and just used the new wallet. Essentially, the saving was precautionary but I really needed to do nothing. Just deleted the wallet folder that I keep on my desktop and replaced it with the new one. Opened the new one and it had all my coins and addresses from before. I had nothing still confirming so that was not an issue.

That's exactly what I did, left the old UI in place, unzipped new wallet and launched from its new directory. No coins no old addresses?

What wallet version did you upgrade too? I am suing upgrade to 3.3.1

I upgraded to the 3.3.1 version. Not sure what could have happened in your case but probably not panic time. Wait for Taek or someone to respond or get on #siatalk for help from the pros i guess. You saved the original files and should be okay. I would guess that placing the old UI back into roaming and rebooting would help but I don't want to recommend anything at this point. Probably a registry issue.
