Dear SoG supporters,
We have recently received requests from the community asking for more information about Spells of Genesis’ progress. We have not been spending much time on updates, neither released them regularly, updates are great for you, for us and for the game itself. To reassure you, we were not trying to hide anything from the community. Being the small team we are, means a lot of work and responsibilities as well as a lot to undertake for each team member. Because of this, sometimes it is not easy to handle priorities, and so, somehow, we neglected this part.
Being our partners and supporters, you have the right to see what’s happening behind the scenes, to know if things are progressing as expected or if we’re struggling with an issue. Going forward, our communications will be more open, regular with a focus on progress updates.
Starting from this week, our developers will be working in 2-3 weeks cycles called “sprints”. They define the tasks priority for each period while evaluating the achievement of set goals. At the end of each sprint, or at the beginning of a new one, we will publish a progress report to inform you about what we were working on during the sprint, if tasks were completed or not, and which tasks we are going to focus on next.
Sprint 1, week 1
This week, we are working on the following tasks:In-game tutorial
Sebastien has almost finished the first part of the in-game tutorial. The first chapters of the tutorial will be included in the next build issued at the end of this sprint. He is explaining more about it in this video. (

New Community Forum
Up to now, SoG has been sharing the Moonga forum and wasn’t very active. While evaluating our current communication channels we decided to reorganize them. One of the main changes is that we want to move most of the interaction between community and us, as well as between community members to the forum. To be able to do so, we need to reorganize it and and improve it. There is substantial amount of work around this and it should take us a few more days to complete. We started this week and will try to re-open the new forum as soon as feasibly possible. In the meantime, the old forum may be inaccessible or may not function properly. We are aware of these issues and ask you to bear with us for the inconvenience.
API Tester
Once Thierry has finished the API Tester development, it will be a very helpful debugging resource to our developers when making major changes to the game. Thanks to this new tool, we’ll be able to make simulations of each change and test game/server connections before deploying them.
Minor debugging
Fixing minor game bugs
